High Middle Ages 1000-1500

At first, European society was not wealthy or stable enough for advanced education. In absence of education, scholars used the Bible. Bishops and archbishops created an education system in cathedrals, and invited scholars to be teachers. Cathedral schools attracted students from all over Europe. These schools focused on latin, literature, etc. St. Thomas Aquinas was an important scholar and theologian. He mixed the philosophy of Aristotle with faith.
The Dominicans and Franciscans were two christian groups formed in the middle ages of Europe by St. Dominic and St. Francis. Founded orders that were called Mendicants.No man could have personal possessions, and they would have to beg for their food from others. They belived in the salvation of The Lord. They were active in towns and villages.
