September 2016
We gotta go back, back, back to school again!
It’s always so awesome when September begins. There’s that certain coolness in the air first thing in the morning and then all of a sudden, it’s 90+ degrees again before noon. Football season is about to take off and all of the fun rivalries that come along with that, and baseball season is more than half way over. Another summer season has come and gone just like that and fall is already trying to creep in.
But the best part is that the majority of our babies have returned to or are just beginning school. The new friends, new schools, new teachers, new faces, new clothes. All of the newness. But what seems to always touch me the most are all of the emotions that run highest during this time of the year. Our little’s are so ready to fly the coop but us mama’s are so not ready for that moment to happen.
We are so fortunate that we have prepared our children for just about everything that might come their way on a daily basis. But I believe that someone forgot to prepare us for all of the emotions that we deal with on a daily basis while our little ones are enjoying some of the best days of their lives and learning so much. Think about it, as soon as you pick them up from school, how do those conversations go? For the most part, they are high energy and excited but probably worn out at the same time. Because they just had a long, full, and rewarding day. Meanwhile, we just worked a full day in or out of the house too but no play or nap time. Lunch time is never the same and sometimes we may not even get or take a (lunch) break.
But do we ever freely share about our day with our little ones when they get home or we pick them up? Do we share about all of the meetings that we had to sit through, or that we accidentally deleted a big file that may or may not be able to be retrieved? Or that we just spent the day cleaning the house and preparing meals. That we just got spit up on or pee’d on (twice) by their younger sibling. And the list goes on.
It’s almost as though, we are programmed to stay in our lane as an adult and yet we encourage our little ones to share everything about their day with us.
I think it’s time for us to go back to school so to speak. Back to the good old days of the excitement of sharing those random moments of our day. Taking a few days to soak up all of the glory that comes with that Back to School goodness of at least the 1st week back. Taking time to enjoy some unscheduled/ unscripted fun that’s for everyone. Remember, our kids are sometimes gone from sun up to sun down with their daily routine and shockingly a lot of times do not complain. Mainly because they don’t know better yet. But we do know better as adults and we complain and might even throw a fit about it, but I think it’s just because we don’t know how to share any more.
I challenge you to find the fun in your “same as it always is” routine. Take a different way home. Start with the inside aisles instead of the outside ones at the grocery store. Stay in your pajamas a little while longer or all day. Lol! Anything that forces you to change things up a bit and notice how it makes you feel.
Dare to be different within your norm! And share your Back to School moments with the world!
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Mommy Moment With Lindsay Dain
As a mother, I have a love for my children that I never knew existed. They are perfect in every way....even though I know they aren't. It's funny how that works. Your child can get under your skin and irritate you beyond belief but they are still perfect in your eyes. Whatever negative thing happens, it is so easy for me to sweep it under the rug and move on without my love wavering at all. I KNOW that God loves me more than I could ever love anyone or anything. He loves me more than I love my children?! He loves me even when I do this or that? Even when I intentionally do wrong? Well, if He loves me more than I love my children....then YES, He absolutely does! I am so grateful to God that he allowed me to be a mother, that He chose my two girls, Allie and Addilyn just for me. I am so blessed to now have a deeper understanding of what love is and I thank God that I do!

Mom's Prayer Corner
For Students:
Lord, thank you for the unique gifts of every child as they transition into a new school year. Fill each student with fresh enthusiasm and a heart that is excited to learn and grow. Cover them with your enduring love, give them confidence and grace, and equip them with the ability to persevere through trials. Bless their teachers with wisdom, understanding, and a heart to serve, as they embark on the journey together!
For Teachers:
Thank you, Lord, for the teachers in my child’s life. I pray for your covering over them as they plan, instruct, counsel, challenge, listen, direct, and serve. Walk with them, and guide them through peace in moments of stress, and enable them to seek an understanding of each child in their care with a kind heart and a discerning spirit. I pray for physical, emotional, and spiritual blessings on the entire school staff, and for strong unity in school-family relationships, so that all children can learn, grow, and thrive!
