Attention to the COVID-19
(Coronavirus)
Dear Learning Cottage Families,
Here is the latest from Sarasota & Manatee County School Districts. Please note that we will follow the guidelines and restrictions set forth by the District. The latest update reads as follows:
The CDC has stated that ALL individuals who have or will be traveling to the following high-risk countries – China, Iran, Italy, Japan and South Korea – complete a mandatory 14-day self-isolation upon returning to the United States. That CDC directive applies to all students and employees of the School District of Sarasota or Manatee County.
In addition, the CDC and the U.S. State Department have both urged travelers to avoid cruise ship travel during this COVID-19 crisis period. The CDC is asking any individual who has taken a cruise or will be taking a cruise to have limited interaction with others for 14 days after returning to the United States. Since it is practically impossible to have limited interactions with other individuals in a school, school bus, or school support site setting – the School District of Manatee County is applying that CDC directive to all students and employees of the district. Anyone associated with our school district who returns from a cruise MUST refrain from returning to school or work for 14 days after their return to the United States.
NOTE: Students traveling on Cruise Ships will not be allowed to attend school for 14 days after returning from the Cruise.
We realize these restrictions can force our families to make difficult decisions. However, our maximum priority at this time is to try and make our schools and work sites as healthy as possible so that instruction can continue and we can finish the hard work that has been ongoing for the first seven months of this school year.
On our campus, we continually take precautionary measures including:
- · Instituting extensive, deep-cleaning protocols through Cleaning Butlers janitorial services (Nightly)
- · Sanitation of all toys, learning environments and bathrooms at Nap time and end of every day.
- · Encouraging diligent hand washing with use of the proper hand washing routine taught at home and in school before entering a classroom, after the playground and before and after every meal.
- · Sending students who exhibit signs of illness immediately to the office for evaluation
Please assist us in our efforts with the following practices outside of school:
- Stay home when sick.
- · Remain at home until a symptoms have been absent for 24 hours (without the use of fever-reducing or other medicine).
- · Seek immediate medical care if symptoms become more severe (i.e. high fever or difficulty breathing).
- · Talk to your child about wellness & taking care of our bodies (i.e. hand washing, refrain from touching eyes and mouth, avoid sharing food or drink).
- · Continue to follow the CDC and Department of State travel advisories that restrict non-essential travel to listed areas.
We thank our families and faculty for being a supportive community and for the combined efforts for the sake of school wellness.
