International Walk to School Day

Principals Desk

Lincoln's goal this year is to foster a sense of belonging, and this comes to all students, staff, and families. Today we had our PTO meeting at the library and it was well attended, thank you to our board, but also to all parents involved in our year so far. Town halls are a structure we have created to build a strong sense of community for our staff and students, last Wednesday was our second event, which was focused on a growth mindset. The ability to know that we all continue to learn and grow, and if we are unable to do something in the moment--that doesn't define what we can do. Groups listened to the book I shared Wednesday night, colored a brain, and also wrote things they are already good at, and what they haven't been able to do YET! These will be on our walls and highlight strengths and areas of growth and interest for our students.

Next month we have another great opportunity for our home school partnership and collaboration, our parent-teacher conferences. These are scheduled for Thursday, Oct 6th and 7th. These two days will provide parents and their children the time to meet with your middle school teachers. Parents can sign up for an in-person or virtual conference by following the directions linked below. Please consider reaching out to connect with your child’s teachers as I believe the personal interaction between parents and teachers is one of the most important actions that can be taken to support our students.

FROM THE OFFICE:

October 14, 2022 - Picture Re-take Day

PRE-ARRANGED ABSENCES:

Absences (other than sick days or doctor appointments) during the school year are considered UNEXCUSED unless a pre-arranged absence form is completed. This form allows students to make up homework missed during the absence. Forms must be received at least two school days prior to the absence. Pre-arranged absences shall be limited to 5 per year.

Here is a link to this form - D303 Pre-arranged Absence Form. Feel free to have your child turn this form in to their teacher or submit it to the front office.

FROM THE NURSE:

As a reminder,

All kindergarten students require a complete physical examination with up to date immunizations, a dental examination and a vision examination.

All transfer students should have their health records from the previous school transferred to Lincoln OR get a hardcopy. These health records will include a physical examination with up to date immunizations, a dental examination and a vision exam.

ALL 2ND GRADERS require a dental examination. It may be beneficial to schedule sooner rather than later.

Thank you for your patience during the season of forms! All forms can be found on the district web page under Health Services.

BIRTHDAY LUNCH

We wanted to let our Lincoln families know that you are welcome to bring a special lunch in for your child on their birthday or half-birthday only. One parent is also welcome to join them for lunch on that day in the lunchroom. Please refrain from dropping off lunches if it is not your child's birthday.
