MUSIC NOTES - 3rd GRADE RECORDERS
Hope you all had a great spring break!
Now's the time for 3rd grade to start learning how to read music and play recorders.
Parents - students should have brought home a letter and a recorder karate music packet. If you are interested in purchasing a recorder, return the bottom portion of the letter with $10 to the office. Recorders are a wonderful way to figure out if your student would enjoy playing an instrument in band, so start thinking now about what instrument your student would enjoy.
Please let Mrs. Hardman know if you have any questions.
NURSE RX
As the school year is coming to an end some of the students who are moving on to Middle School are now in need of vaccines. Please watch for documentation coming home with your child showing what vaccines are due.
The nurse is also continuing with health screenings and you might be notified for referrals for vision, hearing, and/or dental.
If you have any questions please call nurse Moore at 892-9705 or e-mail at: Nancy.Moore@matsuk12.us.
ALASKA'S PEAKS TESTING APRIL 3-6
Performance Evaluation for Alaska’s Schools (PEAKS) is a statewide assessment administered to students in grades 3-5 at our school. It is designed to measure our students’ understanding of Alaska’s English Language Arts and Math Standards. 4th Grade will also be taking the Science test to measure their understanding of Alaska’s Science Standards.
Big Lake Elementary will be administering the paper and pencil form of the assessment. Attached to this newsletter is a flyer explaining the importance of PEAKS assessments. If you have any questions concerning this testing please contact the school at 892-9700.
