Homework Challenge!!
To prepare your child for middle school, I am challenging them to do at least one of the homework activities listed below a night for at least 25 minutes. They may choose which one they would like to complete each night. At times, I may recommend to your child which activity I would like for them to do based on their learning needs. The purpose of these activities is to help your child keep building and expanding on their fifth grade skills.
Homework Activities:
- Read a 5th grade level chapter/informational book of your choice
- Free Write
- IXL (Math, Social Studies, or Language Arts)
- Lexia
- Reflex Math
At the end of each month, I will check each student’s Homework Log Sheet that I will send home on Monday. On the sheet, they need to document what activity they did. Also, listing either what book they read, what they wrote, or skill they worked on in IXL, Lexia, or Reflex. Then you will need to sign to verify their work. Their goal is to complete their homework at least three of the four nights a week.
This is effective starting Monday, February 6.
