Sad News Regarding PGHS Family
Lauren was a beautiful person who invested in the lives of many students and had a spirit of joy and care. "Ms. Laird was the kind of teacher that understood the importance of building caring and positive relationships with students." - Dr. Ziegler

Statement from Lauren's Family:
Arrangements have been made for our beloved Lauren Laird's service. On Monday, May 4 at 6 pm at Morning Star Fellowship, we will be holding a celebration of her beautiful life. This is a time to laugh, to cry, to rejoice, and to give praise to God for the amazing being He put on this earth for 26 glorious years. In lieu of flowers, we humbly ask for a more permanent way to honor her. We want her soul to live on past anything something material could provide. To donate in her name, please go to the Love for Lauren page where you will find the post to link you to the appropriate site. If you have on your heart a certain cause or organization you find Lauren's spirit directing you to, please give on behalf of her. We thank you for all of your love, support, and most importantly prayers. We would love to see all the hearts of those Lauren transformed on Monday as we stand united in God's glory and love that was so great He let us have Lauren for as long as we did.

Keystone Exam Overview
The Keystone Exams are Pennsylvania’s state end of course assessments in Algebra I, Biology and English Literature. Students currently enrolled in one of the related content area courses are required to take the Keystone at the end of the course.
The Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) states, “Beginning with the class of 2017, students must demonstrate proficiency on the Algebra I, Biology, and Literature Keystone Exams in order to graduate. Therefore, any student in grade 9 or below during the 2013–2014 school year is required to take a Keystone Exam if they are enrolled in the Keystone-related course.”
ALGEBRA: Algebra Numeracy and Algebra 1
BIOLOGY: Academic Biology, Biology, Honors Biology, and Applied Life Science
LITERATURE: 10th Grade English
The student’s best overall score is determined by calculating the highest overall module score from any exam (each comprehensive keystone exam consists of two modules). Each student’s best overall score will be banked until their 11th grade year, where it will be reported for the School Performance Profile, school, state and county wide data.
Keystone Retesting: Students who do not score Proficient on the Keystone exam will retake the exam until the completion of their Junior year. The district will provide interventions after every unsuccessful attempt of a Keystone in accordance with the district’s Keystone Intervention Plan. Click Here to view the district’s Keystone Intervention Plan for grades 6-12.
Both the middle school and high school are equipped to remediate students who do not score proficient on these exams. Plus, the PA Department of Education provides an online course through iTunes University called Pennsylvania Learns to assist in remediating students for the Keystone exam. Literature Exam
