Cougar Connection
St. Columba Catholic School - News every Friday - 1/15/21
We are officially halfway through the 2020-2021 school year! While the first half of the school year has had its challenges, it has been great to see some amazing growth over these past 4+ months.
It was great this week to have teachers sharing how they have been reviewing STAR test results and how they have students that have gone from below grade level to at or above. We are blessed to have our school open because growth like that would not have happened virtually.
I've loved watching new friendships form and blossom and how our new students have become part of our family so seamlessly.
One of my highlights of the week, however, was an 8th grader who came to Ms. Z with $20 of his own money asking how he could help out his classmate, Alex, when he learned about what he will be going through with his cancer treatments. This small act of love reminded me of what our school is all about: forming young men and women to be compassionate, loving, models of Christ.
I can't wait to see what the second half of the school year has in store!
Here is a look ahead at the upcoming events on campus:
- Monday, January 18: NO SCHOOL (Preschool & K-8) for MLK Jr. Day
- Tuesday, January 19: STAR Testing Continues
- Wednesday, January 20: STAR Testing Continues
- Thursday, January 21: STAR Testing Continues; Kindergarten Info Sessions for Pre-K Familes
- Friday, January 22: Full Day of School; 2nd Quarter Report Cards Go Home
Blessings,
Mr. Amann
