Mrs. Susanna's Superstars
March 2, 2014
Purim is almost here!
This Sunday, we spent time learning about the upcoming holiday of Purim. Our superstars were excited to learn about the traditions surrounding the happiest of Jewish holidays!
We read Sammy Spider's First Purim, to kick our morning off. Sammy taught us about the story of Purim, when Queen Esther saved the Jewish people from evil Haman, and also touched on some of the fun customs we have, such as wearing costumes, reading from the Megillah, using groggers to drown out Haman's name, eating Hamantaschen, and having carnivals.

As you can see, students made their very own groggers, and practiced using them as we read the story of Purim together.
Alef Bet: Samech
This week's Hebrew letter is Samech, which makes the /s/ sound, as in sukkah, sivivon (dreidel) and sefer (book). Students enjoyed identifying this letter, as well as reviewing past letters. Be sure to check out the back of our Alef Bet pamphlet for an activity you can do at home!
Singing Purim Songs in Music
"La Kova Sheli"
"Mi She Nichnas Adar"
Purim Carnival is March 16th
We can't wait to continue our Purim celebration when we return to Sunday School on March 16th. We encourage everyone to come to religious school in costume, and then stay for Temple Sinai's Purim Carnival immediately following Sunday School. You won't want to miss it!
Marvelous Mensch
We are thrilled to recognized Jack Ellner as this week's Marvelous Mensch. Jack followed all directions the firs time they were given, and was often the first to do so, making him an excellent example to fellow classmates. Way to go, Jack!
Have a Great Week
We hope those of you off on Spring Break have a wonderful time, and we look forward to seeing everyone back on March 16th!
