Meet Instructor Marlon Scurlock!
Marlon Scurlock got involved in boxing as a kid. He came from a boxing family. His dad and uncles were golden glove fighters. He loves the discipline, competitiveness and intelligence of boxing. “It’s like a chess game, “ Marlon says.
“Boxing impacted me by giving me discipline, self-confidence and self-defense to use for myself and to share with others as well. What I love most about teaching is that I help transform lives through the sport of boxing.”
Fun facts: Marlon has worked over 100 amateur fights in the South Texas Region. He has dual licenses in personal training and Therapeutic Massage. “My dad and uncles were trained by the great light heavyweight champ Marvin Johnson 1980-81 who in turn taught me as well.”
We are excited to welcome Marlon back to the Community Ed family. He will be teaching Beginners Boxing 101 at the North East Community Learning Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
Welcome back ALIR!
