From the Athletic Office...
Athletics Department
Dear Webster CSD Parents/Guardians,
We have received direction from the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) and the governor’s office that we may begin moderate and low risk sports this winter. There is a tremendous amount of guidance surrounding the safety measures that the Monroe County Public School Athletic Conference (MCPSAC) and Webster CSD must undertake to have student athletes practice and play in as safe an environment as possible. The New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) has approved alpine ski, Nordic ski, bowling and boys swim and dive.
We, MCPSAC and Webster CSD, will offer the following sports and levels:
Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas Winter Sports Offerings
Varsity - Starting 12/7 Junior Varsity (JV) - Starting 12/7 Modified - Starting 12/14 Boys and Girls Bowling Boys Swim and Dive Boys and Girls Nordic Ski Boys and Girls Nordic Ski Boys and Girls Alpine Ski Boys Swim and Dive
We are waiting for Section V guidance on indoor track & field, and NYSDOH guidance on basketball, cheerleading, ice hockey and wrestling. All are currently ‘ON PAUSE’ until further notice. Additionally, the NYSDOH categorized ‘high risk’ fall sports (football, volleyball and fall cheerleading) have been moved to a Fall Sports Season II beginning on March 1, 2021, and the spring season start date has been moved to April 19, 2021.
Following are some important details regarding this announcement:
Registration for the varsity and JV and modified sports above will open Monday November 16.
If your son or daughter had a physical for school on or after November 1, 2019, then they would not need a new one.
The first day for the varsity and JV sports above is December 7.
The first day for Modified sports will be December 14.
Students can participate in athletics whether they are hybrid or remote learners.
Families are responsible to transport athletes who are not participating in in-person classes to campus for practices or to campus to ride the bus to games.
Practice times for all sports and levels will be communicated soon.
Practices and games are not open to the general public.
More information in regards to spectators/families is forthcoming.
Sport-specific rules and guidelines will be shared with those who register the sport. We encourage all families to register if they are even considering participating.
Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas Athletics offer you the convenience of online registration (re-certification) for sports clearances through FamilyID, www.familyid.com.
Links for FamilyID can also be found on both the Webster Schroeder and Webster Thomas Athletics web pages.
