Woodrow Wilson
Woodrow Wilson was the president of the United States during the World War 1. he tried to keep the US neutral but when something bad happened, he had to make the decision if the Untied States would join the war, or not.
John Pershing
The American general in command of all U.S. forces in Europe during the war. He was very important in World War 1.
Countries and Sides
In the World War 1, the Triple Entente/Allies, which made up of countries including France, Britain, Russia, Italy , the United States, Romania, Greece, Serbia and Japan, fought against the Triple Alliance/Central Powers including Germany, Austria-Hungary, Turkey and Bulgaria.
What caused the U.S. to enter WWI?
The US entered the war for two main reasons. The first reason was that a group of Mexicans crossed the boarder and raided a city in New Mexico and killed Americans. The other reason was a German ship sunk a American ship and killed everyone on it.
How did Texas play an important role during the war?
Texas played an important role in the World War because Germany told Mexico that if they joined them they would get Texas back. Texas also sent many men to fight.
How did World War 1 end?
World War 1 ended around a year after the USA joined and after 4 years of World War, the Triple Entente/Allied Powers won the war! Treaty of Versailles.

This is a picture of unemployed people who want a job. During this time it was very hard to get jobs.
Hooverville
This is a picture of Hooverville. People who did not have a house lived in these. They called it Hooverville because they blamed the president for this mess.
Herbert Hoover
Herbert Hoover was the president during the Great Depression. Because of this many people blamed him for the loss of their money. However, he tried his best to help everyone get out of this depression
How did FDR pull the country out of depression?
He launched the New Deal, a series of domestic programs meant to fix problems brought by the Great Depression. The programs included relief for the poor, jobs for the unemployed, recovery for the economy, and economic reforms to prevent another depression from happening.
What caused the dust bowl and how did it affect farmers in Texas?
Farmer planted a lot of wheat, and this loosened up the soil and when the wind came, the dust blew with it. This was very bad for farmers because they could not grow crops.

Franklin D. Roosevelt was the president during the time of World War II. he made the decision if the United States would join the war after Japan bombed Pearl Harbor and he said yes. He also had to make the difficult decision whether to drop the atomic bomb on Japan to end the war.
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was the dictator of the Nazi Party, commanding German forces throughout World War II. He invaded Poland because he wanted to take over more and more land to gain more and more control, this started World War II.
How did Texas contribute to the nation’s military effort in fighting World War II?
Texas had many factories to help build ammunition and supplies for the war. Texans also fought in World War II from the first day America joined. Texas also held camps that trained troops how to fight. During the war Texas held 50,000 Axis prisoners.
How did life change for Texans on the home front during World War II?
On the home front more women joined the work force. Also on the home front Texas was made the main training ground for the military. Here they learned how to fight how and to fly planes. Industrial plants developed rapidly in Texas to support the war effort.
How did WWII end?
World War II ended when the USA dropped the bomb on Japan the second time because they surrendered. The Allies won!
