Year in Review

Preston Hollow Elementary is in its second year as an International Baccalaureate candidate school and will undergo an authorization in the Spring. This edition of the Patriot Pride will feature a Year in Review consisting of staff reflections and a look back at Fall 2015.

Wood named Teacher of the Year

Leanne Woods, a special education teacher here, earned the 2014 Outstanding Educator of the Year Award presented by the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas.


Six students attend All-City Junior Orchestra

Six Preston Hollow ES students attended the All-City Junior Orchestra by recommendation of the director Barbara Woodring. They joined over 80 students in 5th and 6th grade from districtwide strings programs.


Hillcrest Homecoming Parade

Pictured above are Preston Hollow's float representatives during Hillcrest High School's Homecoming parade Nov. 6. Parents, staff, and students pitched in to create a float for the parade showcasing the International Baccaleaureate learner profiles: thinkers, communicators, balanced, reflective, risk-takers, principled, open-minded, inquirers, knowledgeable, and caring. Preston Hollow is in its second year as an IB candidate school.

Popcorn sales

Ongoing popcorn sales in November and December by fourth graders yielded about $1000. All contributions will go to UNICEF as part of an annual IB project.


Buddy Walk

Preston Hollow ES participated in the Down Syndrome Guild of Dallas 2015 Buddy Walk. Several staff members, parents, and students joined together to complete this annual walk.

Science Fair

Fourth and fifth grade students competed in our school's Science Fair. The top three students in fourth and fifth grade (respectively) are pictured here.

Pajama Drive

Kindergarten sponsored the 2015 Scholastic Pajama Drive for Preston Hollow. Students collected 120 pairs of pajamas exceeding last year's goal. The pajamas were donated to The Family Place in dallas. Scholastic also donated a book for each pair so children have a book to read before they go to bed in their warm pajamas this winter.

Visit with Santa

Preston Hollow Students, who where referred by faculty and staff, had breakfast with Santa December 12 at Preston Hollow United Methodist Church.
