Geography


Japan is located in the North Pacific Ocean to the right of Russia and Korea. Japan is a set of about four-thousand islands. Southern Japan has a mild climate with plenty of rainfall. Earthquakes and typhoons are frequent occurrences because Japan is surrounded by bodies of water and they have many volcanoes. Japan is also mostly mountainous, so only about twelve percent of land is suitable for farming

History


Legend states the creation of Japan is from the sun goddess, from whom the emperors were descended. Japanese believe highly in nature. The evidence of chipped stone tools suggests that humans inhabited Japan at least 30,000 years ago.

Japan first appears in the historical records of China in about 300 BC, the records talked about the Queen Pimiko. The mountainous islands that make up Japan were once connected to the mainland, after the last Ice Age, the waters rose, isolating the island group. Japan is most known for their role in World War 2, which they attacked Pearl Harbor and got America in the war. Japan has many other historic facts that make them a historical country.

Feudalism


The era of feudalism in Japan took place from the 12th through 19th centuries. Japanese feudalism was organized around a four-tiered social structure. Merchants are at the bottom of the structure then slaves. They believe that merchants who don't make anything are lower than the slaves who make things for them. Samurais are next who are the fighters and warriors for Japan. The Diamyos and Shoguns are next who end up having more power and money then the Emperor who is at the top of the system

Shintoism


Shinto is the indigenous faith of the Japanese people and it is as old as Japan itself. Shinto gods are called Kami who the Shinto's worship. The gods are spirits that take the place of things and concepts important to life like wind and water. They believe humans become Kami's when they die. Shinto shrines are the places of worship and the homes of kami. Once Buddhism became popular in Japan, many Buddhists viewed the kami as manifestations of Buddha

1) The Hague Treaty is coming to effect in Japan because of all the child abductions.

2) China, Japan spar over Xi's comments on Nanjing Massacre, which is about Japan's wartime invasion of the city of Nanjing and resulting massacre.

3) Japan gears up to follow child custody treaty.

4) They experienced a bad earthquake in 2011 with a tsunami that brought a nuclear meltdown. Two years after the quake, about 300,000 people who lost their homes were still living in temporary housing, the Japanese government said. Many people lost their lives during that storm that changed Japan
