Practice STAAR Test Coming Up!
Hello, Junior High Families!
I hope you are having a fantastic week so far. I wanted you to know that our students will be taking a practice STAAR test on the days listed below. A practice STAAR test allows students to engage with the new question types and experience the length of an actual STAAR test with the new redesign. This is a good way for students to understand the level of rigor to expect when the real STAAR test is given in Spring 2024.
We will have our practice STAAR tests on the following days...
For 7th and 8th Graders
Tuesday, December 5th - Reading
Wednesday, December. 6th - Math
7th and 8th Grade students will go to Athletics or PE for 1st period and then test in their 2nd period class. Students will have several hours to complete the test but should be done by lunch time. Please encourage your students to go to bed early and eat breakfast as this will help students have a good testing session.
For 6th Graders
Tuesday, December 12th - Reading
Wednesday, December 13th - Math
Students will begin their test first thing in the morning. They will attend their elective classes beginning at 10:00 a.m. as usual. If they are not finished testing, they will complete the test when they return from their elective classes.
Attendance Reminders
Parent Portal
It is important that your child attend school everyday that they are able. Parents/guardians can see their students' grades and attendance information in Powerschool. If you have not logged into Powerschool, here is how to do that:
1. Go to texasleaderhip.net
2. Uner the Family Resources Tab, click on "Parent Information"
3. There you will find the follwoing information:
POWERSCHOOL SIS / PARENT PORTAL ACCOUNTS
- The link you will save to your browser is here: https://texasleadership.powerschool.com/public/home.html
- The above link is only accessible to current Texas Leadership families who are enrolled.
- If you have forgotten your login credentials, you will be able to reset that using the email address you provided to us during last year’s Registration.
- If you have multiple students attending Texas Leadership or Trinity Leadership, you will create the account for one student, then go into the account settings to add additional students. Each student will have a different Access ID and Access Password. The district code was listed in the email but for reference, it is QZJQ for all Texas Leadership or Trinity Leadership campuses.
In Parent Portal SIS you will have the ability to:
See your student’s grades in real-time
Email your student’s teacher
Track attendance history
Submit Student Course Requests with the Counselor
View your Student’s Schedule
Access Account Preferences (i.e. – update email address, etc.)
Access the Lunch Menu
Plus so much more!
Call Kristina Villanueva if you need your child's unique Access ID and Access Password at 653-3200 ext. 7164
School Uniforms
Parents, if your student has school uniform tops or bottoms that no longer fit, please consider donating them to the school. We do have students that forget to pack the right clothes in their athletic bag from time to time...this extra stash of clothing is very helpful. We also have families who need assistance in this area too, so extra clothing to help families is very much appreciated. If you would like to help in this arena, please bring your clothes to the JH office. Thank you!
Junior High Cell Phone Policy
Just a reminder that students are expected to keep their cell phones on silent or powered off and in their backpack during the school day. Students are not allowed to carry their phones in pockets. Students are not allowed to be on their phones at any time during the school day.
