Drop-Off & Pick-Up Times for A Cohort Families
AM Cohort A Families,
Please arrive at your scheduled time below. Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience. We are working to do this as safely and quickly as possible.
Drop-Off
- Our gate opens for drop off at 7:45AM, our school day begins at 8:00AM.
- Drop off continues from 7:45AM-8:00AM or until the line of cars has ended.
Pick-Up
- Our gate opens for drop off at 10:55AM. our school day ends at 11:00AM.
- Kinder & 1st Grade families please plan to arrive between 10:55-11:10 for pick-up.
- 2nd & 3rd Grade families, please plan to arrive between 11:10-11:20 for pick-up.
- 4th & 5th Grade families, please plan to arrive between 11:20-11:30 for pick-up.
*If you have a child in multiple grades, please default to your youngest child for pick-up time. Your older child will also be sent out at that time.

Wednesday Tutoring Support
Tutoring support on Wednesdays is BACK!
Beginning this Wednesday 3/31/21, you will be able to sign up for a 30 minute session with a tutor on School Bookings, https://www.schoolbookings.net/, event number 7css6 .
Our paraprofessional tutors can help students with completing assignments, reading practice, writing support, or math support. Please be sure to take advantage of this great additional support for your child!

Getting to know our Staff!
Ms. Jones, School Counselor
Where did you go to school? Bachelor's degree: York College of PA Master's of Education in School Counseling: West Chester University of PA
How long have you been teaching and what grade levels? This is my 4th year working in a school, and my second year as a school counselor.
What's your favorite subject to teach? I enjoy teaching all things SEL, since it is my expertise! If I could choose an academic subject to teach, it would have to be science!
What was your favorite subject when you were in school? Definitely science! I loved the fun experiments!
Favorite hobby? I enjoy anything outdoors; snowboarding, biking, running, and of course playing with my puppy, Dusty Rose. I also enjoy arts and crafts and drawing/painting.
Favorite color? Green
Favorite book? Tuesday's with Morrie
Who was your favorite teacher in school and why? Mr. Brereton: 6th grade. He was so fun and treated ALL students as equals. We were all special to him and he made learning so much fun!
Interesting fact? I moved to Oregon about a year and half ago from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am and always will be a Philadelphia Eagles fan! Fly Eagles Fly! I am however, greatly enjoying the beautiful Oregon Coast!
Mrs. McDowell, School Counselor
Where did you go to school? University of Puget Sound, BA in Theatre Arts, MEd in Counseling
How long have you been teaching and what grade levels? 31 years in education—taught grades 1 and junior high 8-9 (Drama and Journalism) for 11 years, counselor at elementary and middle school levels for 20 years
What's your favorite subject to teach? SEL and Drama
What was your favorite subject when you were in school? Reading!
Favorite hobby? I enjoy walking, collecting old dolls and toys, camping, genealogy, and breeding Burmese kittens.
Favorite color? Light Pink and Light Yellow
Favorite book? The children’s book “Shadow Castle”
Why did you decide to become a teacher? I wanted to become a teacher to help children have fun learning.
Mr. Taylor, Music
Where did you go to school? Boise State University
How long have you been teaching and what grade levels? 3-5 grade music for 3 yrs; K-12 music for 6 years; K-5 music 14 years; 23 total years of teaching music.
What's your favorite subject to teach? Music
What was your favorite subject when you were in school? Music
Favorite hobby? Running. Watching movies and TV. Reading. Playing Guitar.

Favorite book? Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind
Why did you choose to become a teacher? I wanted to become a teacher because it is rewarding to help others.
Interesting fact? I am a High School football and wrestling coach.
Mrs.Boyd, School Nurse
Where did you go to school? Astoria High School/Associates degree in math and science from Clatsop Community College/University of Portland- w/Bachelors of Science in Nursing
How long have you been working in your field of study? I have been a nurse for 25 years and have worked in many different nursing environments.
What's your favorite subject to teach? I love to teach about health and wellness.
What was your favorite subject when you were in school? I loved math and science
Favorite hobby? I love to spend time with my family and 2 dogs, walking, hiking, kayaking, and cycling.

Favorite book? A Wrinkle in Time
Who was your favorite teacher in school and why? My favorite was my 4th grade teacher. He was super positive and treated everyone like they were his favorite person.
Interesting fact? I love being a mom to two beautiful kids!
Mrs. Manship, "New" 5th Grade Teacher
Where did you go to school? Grand Valley State University (BS Psychology), St. Thomas University (M Ed. Special Education)
How long have you been teaching and what grade levels? I have been working in education for the last six years, teaching four years, and working with people with special needs (medical and developmental) for the entirety of my career.
What's your favorite subject to teach? I enjoy teaching reading and working with maladaptive behaviors and communication challenges.
What was your favorite subject when you were in school? Definitely not reading! I really struggled to discern the sounds in words. I believe this is why I love teaching it so much.
Favorite hobby? When I'm not teaching, I love working in my yard, hiking with my family and dogs, and exploring this new wonderous place we now call home!

Favorite book? The Giver
Who was your favorite teacher in school and why? Mrs. Fotchman. Boy, she was tough! She also spent extra time with me teaching me how to knit. I couldn't have asked for a better advocate for my younger self.
Interesting fact? I am so very grateful to be a member of the Pacific Ridge Puffins and to be able to work with these amazing 5th graders.
Free Annual Egg Hunt
Sponsored by Sunset Park & Recreation
Join the Sunset Empire Park & Recreation District on Saturday, April 3rd from 10am-12pm at Broadway Field for our free annual Community Egg Hunt!
An in-person egg hunt will be offered on Broadway Field from 10am-11am for children ages 0-3 and 4-6. For older children, a drive-through event will be offered on the west side of the Sunset Recreation Center from 11am-12pm. Older children will be given bags with candy-stuffed eggs to do an egg hunt at home. Find an egg with a prize ticket inside, and you could win an Easter basket!
In the best interest of the health and safety of our patrons and volunteers, masks are required for this event, and we will be using social distancing. If you will be attending the in-person Egg Hunt, please pre-register and limit your party to 5 people. You can register by calling 503-738-3311.
The Easter Bunny will be available throughout the event for photo opportunities.
