PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents,

This has been emotional week at Elkins Pointe. We have had some celebratory highs and an unsettling low. I want you to know your children, their safety, and their well being are of the utmost importance. For today, I would like to focus on the highlights.

Congratulations to Emory Johnson for being selected as our Elkins Pointe Teacher of the Year! Mr. Johnson is our 6th grade Science teacher and he embodies our motto of "Smart, Happy, and Connected!" 6th graders who have Mr. Johnson wake up everyday happy to come to his class and excited to learn. Mr. Johnson connects his students with the highest levels of learning through rigor, hands-on lessons, and a STEM based curriculum. After he has packed his kids with all the Science they can absorb, he turns on the music so the kids can jam out to a dance party!

Congrats to our Professional of the Year, our Title I Parent Liaison, Lisa O'Hanlon Cowles! Mrs. Cowles starts each day as the Executive Producer of the Titan Morning News Crew by helping students broadcast the events of the week. From there, you might see her shuffling down the hall with a parent volunteer, an armful of art supplies, a cart filled with French pastries, or with a group of students carrying Japanese lanterns ready to turn the Media Center into Tokyo. Through Family Engagement and 2-Way Communication, Mrs. Cowles keeps our Titan family connected in smart and happy ways!

Today at the R.I.S.E. UP Pep Rally, a DJ, drum-line, and cheer squad encouraged school spirit and set the tone for positive behavior expectations and reinforced our school's behavior goals. Our Titans ended their week knowing the value of being respectful, individually responsible, safe, and excellent in all that they do.

I hope that you enjoy spending time with your family over the long weekend. I look forward to seeing my Titan family on Tuesday.

Sincerely,

Kindra L. Smith, Ed.S

Principal

8th Grade Dance Committee Chairs

It’s time to start pulling together Committee Chairs for the 8th Grade Dance! The dance is scheduled for Friday, May 11th, 2018. Although it sounds far away, it will be here before you know it. We will need committee chairs and plenty of volunteers to help make this dance happen. The Committee Chair meeting is an overall meeting to go over the specifics of what the committee chairs will be overseeing. Last year we had over 200 kids attend this event, so the more preparation we take care of on the backend makes the front end process run pretty smoothly. Please make an effort to be a part of this great event!

Titans Doing Good Things!

When Kyle was in the 7th grade he shaved his head along with Coach Tongue. Kyle is extremely thankful for each and every dollar!
