Digital Learning Day Challenge
February Challenge for VCES Teachers
Digital Learning Day is Wednesday, February 17, 2016 (I don't know who makes this stuff up...). So, in honor of this very important day, I'm inviting you to try some new digital activities in the month of February. Complete the challenge (3 activities), and your name will go into a drawing for a Starbucks or iTunes gift card (3 will be given away). The deadline for all entries will be February 29.
How to enter the drawing? Email me each time you complete an activity. Complete 3 activities and your name will be entered. Good luck!
And, of course, if any of you need help with one of the activities I'd be happy to help!

Join Twitter!
Twitter is an excellent tool to connect and learn from other educators. Challenge: Create a Twitter account and either follow me (@jevenhouse) or email to let me know your twitter handle/nickname.
Try Kahoot!
Challenge: Use Kahoot! for a class activity. What is a Kahoot? A Kahoot is a collection of questions that you create or that you select from other teachers. You show your Kahoot on your projector and students will answer the questions using an iPad or Chromebook. Students get points for answering the question correctly and for how quickly they answered. Students LOVE to use Kahoot. It's a great way to review material or to test pre-knowledge as you start a new unit.
Ask me or Laura Brouwer if you need help getting started.
Use Pinterest
Pinterest is a great site for professional development. Challenge: Create a Pinterest Board with at least 3 content-specific pins, 3 tech ideas, and 3 classroom design and/or management pins.
Create your own digital activity
Want to do something not listed in this flyer? Challenge: Create your own and submit for your chance to win a gift card!
Bring in an expert - double entry!
Challenge: Use FaceTime, Skype or Google Hangouts with your class(es) to connect them with an "expert" such as an engineer, poet, CPA, actor, pilot, etc. This activity will get you a double entry in the drawing.
Plan a Mystery Skype - double entry!
Challenge: Participate in a Mystery Skype with a classroom in another state or country. This activity will get you a double entry in the drawing. Learn more and get started here: https://education.microsoft.com/ConnectWithOthers/PlayMysterySkype
