It is that time of year! If you are a graduating senior, right now is a good time to start thinking about ramping up your job search. An effective job search isn’t just sending out as many resumes as you can to as many jobs as you can find. Networking, informational interviews, research, analyzing job descriptions and customizing your resume and cover letter all can increase your odds of finding the position best suited to your skills and needs. Giving Opportunity: Transgender Emergency Fund
Transgender Day of Visibility was last Thursday, but it's important to be supportive of trans individuals all year long. One way you can do that is through supporting mutual aid groups like the Transgender Emergency Fund, based in MA.
"Founded in 2008, by Jesse Pack later joined by Chastity Bowick, Transgender Emergency Fund is the only organization dedicated to supporting low income and homeless Transgender individuals in Massachusetts. The Transgender Emergency Fund assists with homelessness prevention, shelter assistance, nutrition assistance, prescription co-pay assistance, transportation and escort to medical appointments, etc."

What is VMock?
The VMock SMART resume platform will analyze your Resume from EVERY possible angle and help you arrive at a perfect version of yourself!
VMock, is a 24-7 online resume-review tool, that leverages data-science, machine learning, and natural language processing to provide instant personalized feedback on your resume based on criteria gathered from employers and global best practices. VMock is designed to work with resumes from many different fields across various industries.
How VMock Works
Create an account, upload your resume, and VMock will:
- Provide you with resume guidelines based on your school template to ensure that you do not miss the fine details and establish a great first impression
- Assess how well you have marketed your core competencies to showcase the right skill set reflected in academics, experience, achievements etc.
- Give you line-by-line suggestions to improve your resume content in view of your course and level of experience
- Give you an aggregate resume score (strive for 75% which is a great score) to assess the strength of your resume benchmarked against your own Northeastern peer group
Once you receive the detailed feedback, make relevant changes to the resume and re-upload it to see your increased score and associated improvements.
You can sign up on NUworks for the Campus Career Studio (Mon-Fri-10-12 noon EST) or sign up for the virtual studio and bring your VMock resume for feedback.

Big Interview
What is a Big Interview?
Big Interview’s proven, step-by-step system combines expert video lessons and our interactive interview practice tool to help you land a job.
You can use Big Interview to practice interviewing online using your webcam. This tool allows you to practice various types of questions, including general, behavioral, and technical ones.
The “Answer Builder” tool inside Big Interview will help you mine the depths of your memory to find the right stories to tell. Finally, you can record your answers and ask a career counselor to provide you with feedback!

- Weekly Coaching Labs are designed to provide you with an overview of the many factors involved in your career journey.
- Self-paced, Canvas Modules parallel coaching labs for 24/7 self-paced instruction. We recommend Designing Your Career for an overview of both the process and our office (and we continue to add new modules so check back regularly).
