Message From Principal Webb
Hello families-
I hope the students are enjoying their time off with family and friends. The month of December is upon us and it will be full of different learnings, celebrations and small field trips for some grades.
Thank you to our wonderful PTA for organizing supper and snacks for our teachers during Parent-Teacher Conferences. It was greatly appreciated!
Finally, the Longfellow Book Fair is this week on December 5th and 6th in the computer lab. Hope to see you there!
Sincerely,
Kelli Webb

The Latest News from the Longfellow Elementary Parent Teacher Association (PTA):
Date Change for McTeacher’s Night
Please note that there is a date change for our planned McTeacher’s Night: It will be on Tuesday, December 17, 2019.
As a reminder: Longfellow will be participating in a fundraising initiative that allows schools to “take over” a local McDonald’s restaurant for a set period of time, with a percentage of sales going directly to support specific school needs. We have booked the Longfellow night at the McDonald’s on Lower Muscatine Road (near Sycamore Mall) on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., so please mark your calendars and plan to attend!
There is a special classroom competition during this two-hour dining event: The Longfellow class with the most student attendees will win $100 for its room! Each participating student will fill out a sheet when he or she comes in, and organizers will tally these sheets at the end of the two-hour event to determine the classroom winner. In addition, we’ll need two parent volunteers who can help us out with managing this event—or one parent volunteer who is willing to staff the event for the full two hours. Please contact PTA President Lanny Tygrett, at presidentlongfellowpta@gmail.com, to help out. We can’t make this happen without your help!
We’d like to thank the many generous volunteers who helped us provide food for Longfellow teachers and staff during conferences these last couple of weeks—especially Diane Platte, who organized all of the meals. The food was delicious, and we appreciate everyone’s time and help!
Be sure to book it to our next book fair, which is coming up after Thanksgiving and will take place in the Media Center on second floor!
Thursday, December 5, 4-7 p.m.
Friday, December 6, 3-5 p.m.
This is a perfect time to do some holiday shopping, and the money we raise benefits our school by providing us with new books for the library. Also, we still need volunteers to help with the fair. To sign up, please visit https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508094da4ae23a5f85-fall2
Anyone can join the PTA! We ask for a $10 “goodwill” donation when you join, but this fee is totally optional. Our next meeting will be on Tuesday, January 7, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. in the Longfellow library. All are welcome, and we hope to see you there!
