Northern Guilford H.S. Media Center 4.29.16
Poetry Coffeehouse
Several students and their families came out to share original poems this past Wed. in the media center. Some had memorized their poems, some read from journals and this year, some read from their phones (a first). Thanks to Ms. Mooney-Flynt for helping sponsor this event this year. April is National Poetry Month, as well as School Library Month.
In addiiton to the coffeehouse, students have been coloring a giant poster for SLM, participating in Poem-In-Your-Pocket Day, selecting poetry books from displays and creating magnetic poetry. Let me know if you did anything this year for National Poetry Month. I'd love to hear!
Annual Media and Technology Report
I'll be coming by your classroom to take an inventory of your equipment in the coming weeks. I will try to visit during your planning periods, so as not to disturb your class.
If you received any new equipment -- cameras, laptops, etc. -- please be ready to share that information with me.
The data from the AMTR is used for our School Report Card. To learn more, http://www.ncpublicschools.org/dtl/accountability/tech-report/
Inventory
I am also doing inventory of the print collection. First period teachers, if you have students with overdues, please encourage them to return them now. There are over 96 pages of overdues currently. Notices have been sent out through email and printed ones to your boxes. Thanks for your efforts in helping our students be good library citizens!

Friday Pop-UP Maker Space
So far, our makers have done calligraphy, knitting, crochet, ink drawing, Sharpie prints, geometric models from Escher, building with K'nex, book paper flowers, collages, magnetic poetry, coloring pages, pom pom monsters, pop-up cards, glass magnets and more during lunch, break and after school.
Come by during planning and build something on Fridays, as a little stress reliever. Or if you have donations of building materials, like fabric, yarn, paper, etc., we'd love to have them.
