iPhone Tips 101
Hold Icon for Quick Access
If you aren't in the lock screen, swipe down from top right of screen, which will open the control center. From here all you need to do is tap the camera icon and you're ready to shoot!
Turn on the Grid
You can turn on the grid by going to settings, scroll down to Camera, and make sure the grid slider is turned on.
Shoot in Burst Mode
The burst mode is useful whenever there's any movement or unpredictability inside the scene such as kids playing, birds flying and or humans walking!
Portrait Mode
Live Photo Mode
Live Photos take up quite a bit of space (like double) than a normal photo. In order to pick your perfect photo, you click the edit photo in the top right hand corner of the Photo app. Your phone will be taking a still picture while capturing the 1.5 seconds that comprise the before, during and after moments of the shot.
If you want to change the Key Photo on your Live Photo just follow these steps:
1. Select the Live Photo you want to extract a still shot form.
2. Select Edit in the top right corner.
3. Move the slider left to right until you select the frame you want.
4. Select Make Key Photo to make permanent.
To Extract a Still Shot:
1. Open the Photos app.
2. Select Live Photo you want to extract a still shot from
3. Tap the Share icon in the bottom left corner of the screen
4. Tap Duplicate in the option tray at the bottom of the screen.
5. Tap Duplicate as a Still Photo.
A copy of the still photo will appear as the most recent shot in your camera roll! And now you can delete the Live Photo if you no longer want to take up storage on your iPhone. On iPhones 6S and later, Live Photos are turned on by default!
Set Focus & Exposure
Sometimes, when you set focus and exposure by tapping on the screen, the exposure doesn't look quite right- the image may appear under-exposed (too dark) or over-exposed (too bright). In these cases you can manually adjust exposure before taking the photo.
After you've tapped on the screen to set focus and exposure, simply swipe up or down to alter the exposure manually. You'll see the exposure slider with a sun icon appear. Swipe up to make the image brighter or down to make the image darker.
Lock Focus & Exposure
You would want to lock focus and exposure whenever there might be a significant change inside the frame such as a person walking through the scene.
Take Photo with Volume Buttons
Use Self-Timer
Cropping Photos
You can use the crop tool on many apps or just the camera app on the iPhone!
