Western Illinois University's Gwendolyn Brooks Cultural Center will host American poet, writer, activist and educator Nikki Giovanni as the keynote address of the University's Black History Month celebration.
Nikki Giovanni is a writer, commentator, activist, and educator and one of the world's most well- known African-American poets. Giovanni has received hundreds of awards for her writing, activism and performance in the academic world, including seven NAACP awards, and has recently been named as one of Oprah Winfrey’s 25 “Living Legends.”
