KMS Names New Assistant Principal
At the regular meeting of the Krum ISD Board of Trustees on May 12, 2021, the board voted to approve the appointment of Melanie Vasquez as the new Assistant Principal of Krum Middle School!
A veteran educator of over 20 years, Ms. Vasquez received her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Texas at Arlington. In addition to her Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus in Biology and Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Ms. Vasquez is certified in ESL grades 1-8, Elementary Biology grades 1-8, Generalist grades 4-8, and has her principal certification for EC-12.
“Through her years of service to Birdville ISD and Sanger ISD as a teacher, department lead, assistant principal, and interim principal, Ms. Vasquez brings a proven track record of instructional leadership to KMS,” said KMS Principal Robert Butler. “Her experience with Professional Learning Communities and using data to improve student learning makes her an ideal candidate to partner with the KMS staff and administration team to accomplish campus and district goals.”
KMS will certainly miss Ms. Woods, but we wish her luck on her new adventure!

Highlights from Last Week
Balfour Yearbooks have recognized the Krum High School yearbook staff for their outstanding publication of the 2019-2020 Krum High School Yearbook, It All Depends. The Krum High School yearbook will be featured in Balfour’s 2021 Yearbook Yearbook.
Less than 5% of yearbooks published by Balfour in the 2019-2020 school year will be included in the 35th edition of The Yearbook Yearbook. Publications were evaluated in the categories of photo technique, theme development, secondary packages, layout design, and cover art.
Despite the challenges that finishing the yearbook during remote learning amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, editors Margot Molen (Krum High School Class of 2020 Graduate) and Payton Lucas (Krum High School Senior Class of 2021) were able to create a publication of the highest quality. The KHS Yearbook Department is under the guidance of KHS educator Stacey Lucas.
Congratulations to all KHS Yearbook Staff from the 2019-2020 school year and Mrs. Lucas on their accomplishment!
Krum Independent School District was honored to present the plaques and awards to our campus Teachers of the Year at the regular May meeting of the Krum ISD School Board.
