Breakout Boxes will be available for check-out this year, so you can take them to your classroom! Inside each box will beset-up and return instructions. I have also kept hard copies of Breakouts we have done in the past if you wish to reuse the materials. If you’ve never done a Breakout and would like to do one with me in the library, email me to book a date!

Let me help with SSR
We always want to make the best of every minute of the school day - and that includes making the most of SSR.
The key to reading engagement is variety, choice, and quality. Yes, we need to push our students to challenge themselves by reading high-quality, complex texts, but first we must establish a foundation for reading engagement. Kelly Gallagher asserts that there are three types of reading every student must do - a challenging read, a "just right" read, and a "for fun" read. We need to give students all of these choices if we truly want to make gains in regards to literacy achievement.
If you send me a snapshot of the content that you are exploring in your classroom every couple of weeks, I can compile a set of various high quality, high interest texts on a variety of reading levels to keep in your classroom during SSR. This also eliminates any excuses for not having a book and preserves time for reading!
