Welcome Back! I have been busy changing schedules and ensuring that students are in the correct classes. We have also been enrolling students into college courses. College courses start next week.

Art 1, Art 2 & Advanced Art
This Week
We did introductory activities and went over classroom guidelines.
Next Week
Art 1- We will begin looking at how basic lines can create in-depth art works.
Art 2- We will begin with reviewing the basic art principals.

Geography
This Week
We introduced the idea of Geography, we looked at a syllabus and took a pre-test.
Next Week
We will begin to discuss the basics of Geography, the roles that boundaries, governments, economics, and flags play in each country. We will be working on making our own flags at the end of the week.
Reel Movie Reviews
This Week
We began by watching Braveheart. We will be writing a short essay on Friday.
Next Week
We will be watching Amazing Grace.

Business Communications
This Week
We talked about classroom expectations and set up our Google apps.
Next Week
We will start working on email etiquette and writing emails to teachers, coaches, and other adults.
Mrs. Gibbons
Phase 2 Alt. The students in my class work individually on subjects through a program called Odysseyware. Each student is to complete the subject in order to earn a credit.
Next Week
We will work on daily goals in order stay on top and not fall behind. This means showing up and completing assignments on time.

English 2
This Week
We are going through classroom procedures, discussing individual education beliefs, and composing a writing sample focused on what it means to be an active learner.
Next Week
We will begin our study of creative writing. Students will be reading "The Sound of Thunder" and work on how to write a believable character.
English 3
This Week
We are going through classroom procedures, discussing individual education beliefs, and composing a writing sample focused on humanity as a migrant species with possible connections to The Things They Carried.
Next Week
We will be starting our first unit, which a study of Writing Freedom - Words That Shaped a Nation. Our goal is to complete the unit introduction and The Declaration of Independence.

FACS: Learn about FCCLA and STAR events
Next Week
Family Studies: Start our unit on healthy relationships.
Culinary Arts: Start learning about kitchen safety and sanitation.

Psychology
This Week
We began an introduction to the topic of psychology. We examined early pioneers of psychology as well as the approaches to psychology and the various types of psychology.
Next Week
We will conduct an assessment of this weeks material. A test review will be provided. We will then begin to explore the research methods of psychology.
Am. Government
This Week
We began a review of historical events leading up to the foundation of the United States. We began with the Greek Civilization and will progress quickly through the major events leading up to the creation of the United States.
Next Week
We will continue with our historical survey as well as have an assessment of the material we have covered to this point. A test review will be provided.
Economics
This Week
We began an introduction to Economics Foundations we introduce basic concepts of economics including supply and demand, macro and microeconomics, and cost-benefit analysis.
Next Week
We will conduct an assessment of economic foundations. A test review will be provided. We will then begin to study economic systems in which we will compare and contrast the various economic systems throughout the world.

This Week
We discussed the class syllabus, signed in for e-book access, defined team roles using math games and started CPM chapter 1 "Functions"
Next Week
Continue working on linear and quadratic functions in Chapter 1, section 1.1
Geometry
This Week
Discussed the class syllabus, signed in for e-book access, defined team roles using math games and started CPM Chapter 1 "Shapes and Transformations"
Next Week
Continue working on geometric shapes, motions, patters, and symmetry in section 1.1

We went over yearly schedules, grading policies, and started learning the purple book.
Next Week
We will select show music for the marching season and start marching fundamentals.

1. Went over the information for each class (syllabus, expectations, rules, etc.)
2. Began learning or reviewing proper weight training techniques.
Next Week
1. Continue to learn/review weight lifting techniques.
2. Begin Health Class with freshmen on Wednesday.

This Week
We got to know each other and explored some basic science skills, both in small groups. Advanced Biology got enrolled in FSCC college credit if they wanted it.
Next Week
Start into chapter 1 in both Biology and Advanced Biology exploring the properties of life.

Web & Digital Communications
This Week
We got to know each other and discussed classroom expectations. We also talked about staff responsibilities and jobs needed in order to create the publications we're responsible for which include the OHS Trojan yearbook, the Trojan Talk weekly newsletter and the OHS News webpage within the USD #367 website.
Brainstormed and developed theme ideas to present for vote.
Next Week
We'll start selling ads and select our yearbook theme and cover.
Accounting
This Week
We got to know each other and discussed classroom expectations. We began talking about what accounting is, business activities and how they relate to accounting.
Next Week
We will finish and take a chapter test over Chapter1 Starting a Proprietorship: Changed that Affect the Accounting Equation.
Entrepreneurship
This Week
We got to know each other and discussed classroom expectations. Discussed what an entrepreneur is and reasons people choose to become entrepreneurs. Began researching teen entrepreneurs.
Next Week
Finish and present teen entrepreneur research. Discuss famous entrepreneurs and their characteristics.
Ms. Tooley
Algebra II
This Week
We are reviewing of Algebra I concepts. We are currently reviewing lines.
Next Week
We will finish our lines review and begin a review on solving quadratic equations and factoring.
Advanced Algebra
This Week
We are starting chapter 1 and will work on lessons 1.1 and 1.2A.
Next Week
We will continue working on chapter 1 and will work on lessons 1.2B, 1.3A, 1.3B and 1.4A.
Trigonometry
This Week
We are working on chapter 9 - right triangle trig and will cover lessons 9.1A and 9.1B.
Next Week
Trigonometry we will work on solving non-right triangles and cover lessons 9.2, 9.3, and 9.4.
Calculus
This Week
We are currently reviewing College Algebra concepts that we will need to be successful throughout the year.
Next Week
Calculus will continue to work on College Algebra review concepts with a quiz the following week.

This Week
We discussed class rules & procedures, introduced Adobe Creative Cloud, and started Adobe Photoshop
Next Week
We will continue Photoshop training tutorials and projects.
Law
This Week
We discussed class rules & procedures, were given movie consent forms that are due Friday (8/16), solved a murder mystery, and started learning about the court's structure
Next Week
We will continue court structure lesson and complete a jury selection unit.
College Prep
This Week
We discussed class rules & procedures, were given community service forms and planners, and researched top 3 college choices.
Next Week
We will determine what each student needs to be doing in the upcoming weeks and months for their college prep. and career assessments.
Oz Envy
This Week
We discussed class rules & procedures, talked about upcoming events we will be attending and the roles each student would fill, and discussed our goals for Oz Envy.
Next Week
We will be learning equipment, organizing upcoming events, and producing products.
