School Age Child Care
SACC Curriculum Corner!
The Character Development theme we are focusing on this month is Responsibility with the lesson “Responsibility in Real Life.” The lesson shares stories about George Washington Carver and the bald eagle’s dedication to their young.
To celebrate Black History Month the students will be learning about famous inventors and entrepreneurs.
Of course, we cannot forget Valentine’s Day!! The students will be making Valentine Heart Glyphs and practicing their math skills with Valentine themed math games. In science we will learn about electric eels, conduct a Skittles chemistry experiment, make quicksand and so much more.
Tons of fun at SACC this month, be sure to ask your child(ren) about their day at SACC!

STAFF SPOTLIGHT
Lizzie Espinosa
Hi! My name is Lizzie Espinosa and I am the Senior Associate of SACC at Morningside Elementary. I have been working with the program for ten years and I absolutely love what I do! I was born and raised in New Braunfels. I have one sister, two brothers, two nieces, three nephews and one great nephew. I also have a rat terrier named Shire. Some of my favorite things to do are fishing, going on adventures with friends and family and reading. I am such a bookworm and I love getting lost in a good book! My favorite subject in school would have to be music. I learned how to play the alto saxophone in the sixth grade. My advice for students would have to be never be afraid to speak your mind, to share your thoughts and to just be yourself!
Cindy Martinez
I have been with Comal ISD for 15 years. I grew up in New Braunfels, Texas, where I graduated from Canyon High School and now have my son, Jacob. My favorite subject in school was History. I also have 2 dogs; one named Scooby and the other Bella. I love watching movies, being outdoors, and most of all spending quality time with my family. My favorite sports teams are the San Francisco 49ers and the Chicago Bulls. My advice for students is to find your passion and give your 100%. Make the most of it by doing what you love and giving it your all. It may not be easy finding your passion, the search might even be long, but you will eventually find it. The feeling of satisfaction knowing you have given 100% brings tremendous contentment.
Janet Ducharme
My name is Janet Ducharme, I am a SACC Aide at Johnson Ranch ES, and I have been with Comal ISD for 3.5 years. I grew up in Arthur, Illinois, moved to Texas in 1977 and lived in varies places such as Baytown, Houston, and now live in Canyon Lake. I have been married for 40 years, I have four adult children. I have eight grandkids, and one great grandchild. No pets at this time. However, we want to get a dog at some time in the future. I love to travel in the United States and all over the Hill Country. I love to read and shop. My favorite sport is football. Love my Cowboys! I attended Arthur High School in Arthur, Illinois. I also went to Lake Land College, graduated, and went 1 year to Eastern Illinois University. I have an Associate’s degree from Lake Land Jr. College. I loved geography and Social Studies and studied elementary education as my major at Eastern. My advice for students would be to enjoy every day and be respectful of everyone.
