Dragon Roar: 8.25.19 Week 2
Daring Greatly in Faith, Academics & Service since 1960
We are firmly rooted!
In today's Gospel, People will come from north and south, east and west, and take their place in the Kingdom of God.
"Jesus passed through towns and villages,
teaching as he went and making his way to Jerusalem.
Someone asked him,
"Lord, will only a few people be saved?"
He answered them,
"Strive to enter through the narrow gate,
for many, I tell you, will attempt to enter
but will not be strong enough."
Twenty-First Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today's gospel is a prophetic warning to repentance in order to enter the kingdom. Jesus is reminding us that this Christian life is not an easy one. Jesus is giving us an adjuration: if we are to enter through the narrow gate, we must be spiritually strong. We must have already developed the grit to live this Christian life day in and day out before we enter through the gate. However, I also realized that Jesus reminds us that we can’t develop grit on our own. The key (as it always is with Jesus) is a relationship. How are we in our families developing relationships to keep our children strong? How do we foster resilience so that the "I can'ts" become "I can't....yet'? See below for some articles on growth mindset.
