Swimming Memories

Our team had the best time in Sarasota, Florida. We had a record 20 swimmers attend! We encouraged each others dreams in the pool and created memories that strengthened our friendships. We spent four days together cheering each other on in individual and relay events and we had plenty of time to relax and vacation at the beach in Siesta Key. We had so much fun, we are already planning for next year.

Freestyle Stroke Tip

For the past month, our workouts have focused on the position of your elbow. To reduce drag make sure to have a high elbow during the underwater pull. Keep your fingers pointed down, press the water with your forearm, keep your elbow near the surface of the water during the entire pull. Keep your pull close to your body. Some swimmers can have a straighter pull, it does create more power, but the drawback is that it increases drag and is hard to maintain. A great drill to work on is one arm freestyle. Swim with one arm in front and one arm pulling, switch arms at the 25. If you have any questions, ask your coach on deck.
