The Good News
January 28, 2018 - St. John XXIII Catholic School
Leadership Message
In looking forward to the next school year, we acknowledge the landscape of St. John XXIII, as we know it, will look very different. Half of our dedicated staff and half of our awesome students will be calling Our Lady of the Angels Catholic School home.
The only things that will change for our school community who are moving to OLA, quite simply are: Location and the physical space. We know all too well that bricks and mortar do not make a school, but rather, the people in it make it home!
If you reside in the OLA boundary as was previously communicated, you do not need to register as we take care of that for you. However, we do ask that if you have any plans of moving residences, or moving schools, could you kindly let us know in the office as soon as possible as planning, budgeting, and staffing for the upcoming school year will be based on the number of students we have in each building.
Also, please know that we will be doing some wonderful "Team-Building" activities with our new OLA teachers and students in the upcoming months. All will be well, trust the journey and keep the faith!
In Christ,
Mrs. Tracy Melnyk, Principal
Alberta Education Accountability Pillar Surveys
As an annual check-up on the education system, the Accountability Pillar provides an opportunity for Alberta Education and school authorities to ensure that we are equipping students for success.
The Accountability Pillar uses a set of 16 indicators. Data on these indicators consists of surveys of students, parents and teachers on various aspects of education quality, student outcomes such as dropout and high school completion rates, and provincial assessments of student learning.
From January to the end of February, Alberta Education will be conducting the annual Accountability Pillar Survey.
- In January, St. John XXIII parents of students in grades 4 will receive a survey from Alberta Education in the mail.
- In addition, students in grades 4, and all teachers, will be completing their surveys online at school.
All surveys are anonymous and ask questions about experiences with your school.
If you receive a survey in the mail - please complete it, as your participation in the survey helps provide important information on the quality of education your child is receiving, so we encourage you to return your survey promptly. All surveys must be in by February 23, 2018.
