New Year, New Laws

Some of the best bill ideas we work on in the Legislature come directly from constituents. That is why I'm reinstating our There Ought to be a Law Program for local students in sixth to 12th grade to share their ideas with my office for a new state law.

This program allows students to apply their civics knowledge in a practical way that engages them in the heart of public service. My team and I will review each submission and select one idea to be introduced as a bill in the new year. The student will also have an opportunity to participate in the Legislative process and meet with myself and key stakeholders to work on the bill.

Consider helping us amplify this message by sharing it with students in our community. If you have any questions about this or any resources that may be available to you, call my office at (209) 948-7479.

As always, it is a pleasure being of service.

Mental Health Moments

From Katie Hoellwarth

Mental health tip:

Positive self-talk is an important part of self care. Use positive self-talk to remind yourself (either in your head or out loud) that you are okay, you are strong, and you will not give-up. You can even use positive self-talk to remind yourself to use your coping/calming skills.

Some self-talk ideas:

I can do this!

I am awesome!

I am capable

I am smart

I am funny

Field trip calendar 2021-22

We are excited to present our Lodi K-5 Vista Oaks Field Trips for the 2021-2022 school year!!

What an exciting opportunity to once again see our fellow homeschool educators and friends. Please mark your calendars to attend our 2021-22 K-5 field trips for Vista Oaks Charter School.

The fees for all field trips will be taken from the student's academic budget. The academic budget will only cover the cost of the VOCS student fees. Please note that some field trips will allow for siblings to attend and others may not.

-School Fun-

Middle school science class

Students are learning about genetics and heredity. The pumpkins show the recessive and/or dominant traits, that they choose.

Math & reading incentive cards

Families, don't forget to complete the math and reading incentive cards. We have some awesome gift cards for your child when they turn in completed incentive cards. You can find the cards in your Vista Oaks Meeting Binder or ask your Advisor for one.

Speak Up for Safety!

We want our students to feel comfortable sharing concerns with us directly, but having an anonymous option is really helpful for some! We have a safety line in place for this.
