Hawthorne Visitor Policy
Visitors
Parents and visitors are encouraged to visit Hawthorne Elementary. However, the safety and well-being of our students and staff is very important. According to Warren Board policy, parents must provide advance notice prior to visiting classrooms. (This communication should at least take place prior to the start of the school day.) The Principal will provide guidelines at the beginning of each year. Generally, all visitors must have a scheduled appointment with a teacher prior to conducting a visit or must be escorted by an administrator. Parents must have a background check conducted by the office for any classroom visit longer than 15 minutes. All staff needs to help monitor all visitors in the hallway. If a visitor does not have a pass, please politely ask them to check-in the office for their visitor pass and escort them to the door. If they refuse, say nothing and contact the office immediately. Even parents who visit often MUST register at the office and wear a visitor’s badge. Parents and other family members are always welcome to eat lunch with their child. All students and their visitors that bring in fast food will eat outside of the café and only with their own student. The Principal reserves the right to revoke this privilege if a visitor does not comply with board policy and school expectations.
