What is a Monochromatic Painting?

A monochromatic painting is a painting that is layered with shades and tints. In my painting I used the color red, so I started with pink, because I mixed red with white so it made pink. Then I had a magenta color and then I had just plain red and after that I had a darker red and so on. Look below for an example painting.

Monochromatic Scale ( red )

The photo above is a example of the colors that I used in my painting.I did not use the lightest shade because I only used six shades, and this scale show seven.I used shades and tints to create this art piece.By mixing white and red, or black and red, I was able to achieve multiple shades and tints. In this art piece, I only used six, like I said before.

Elements of Art & Principals of Design

The element I used in my artwork is color.I organized this to achieve Unity.I used tints and shades of red to achieve a monochromatic color scheme in my artwork.
