What is a Monochromatic Painting?

A monochromatic painting is a painting that is layered with shades and tints.In my painting I used the color red, so I started with pink, because I mixed red with white so it made pink.Then I had a magenta color and then I had just plain red and after that I had a darker red and so on. Thirty-two foot high figures are shown raising a 60-foot bronze flagpole. The flag at the top of the pole flies at full mast 24 hours a day, 365 days a year by presidential proclamation.

My Painting

The painting featured above was created by yours truly.It took about a couple of weeks to complete with about 2-3 days each week.I used the color red to use.It started with a light pink color, then a hot pinky color, then the straight up red color, them a maroon color, a darker maroon color, and then finally black to end the painting.The monument that I chose to do was the Marine Corps Memorial Monument, more information can be found below.

Monochromatic Scale ( red )

The photo above is a example of the colors that I used in my painting.I did not use the lightest shade because I only used six shades, and this scale show seven.I used shades and tints to create this art piece.By mixing white and red, or black and red, I was able to achieve multiple shades and tints.In this art piece, I only used six, like I said before.

The element I used in my artwork is color.I organized this to achieve Unity.I used tints and shades of red to achieve a monochromatic color scheme in my artwork.
