We are entering the third week of school. Students should now be getting use to the schedule and how to log in to the computers and join the Google Meets and Google Classrooms. If you do experience any difficulties with the technology, please be sure to call the main office at 773-534-5060.
Thank you to those of you who were able to attend our curriculum night last week. If you didn't get a chance to attend, please be sure to click on the button in this bulletin that will bring you to a Google Drive folder with all of the links to the videos. Also, please reach out to your child's teacher(s) to get any further information about the curriculum your child will be learning this year.

Counselor's Corner with Mrs. Garfinkel
Hello Henry Families,
The beginning of the year is a great time to be setting goals with your students and thinking about what they want to accomplish this year. When discussing goals with students make sure they are SMART: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Timely. For example, you don’t want a goal like: I want good grades this year. You want a goal like: By the end of first quarter I want As and Bs in math, reading, and science.
To learn more about setting SMART goals, watch this Brain Pop: https://www.brainpop.com/health/personalhealth/settinggoals/
This yoga video will also help you get in the right mindset: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCz72LUTc78
Also, please be sure to fill out this survey so I can make sure I am meeting your needs: https://forms.gle/prcQxhWfVn8Kojqi6
If you ever need anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me. The best way to reach me is by email: mgarfinkel@cps.edu
Have a great week,
Mrs. Garfinkel

Proposed Project (Playground)
Every year, each Alderman receives $1.3 million for ward infrastructure improvements. This is the sole source of funding made available to Aldermen to repave streets, resurface alleys, and make critically needed infrastructure improvements.
In the 35th Ward, Alderman Ramirez-Rosa empowers residents to decide how to spend $1 million in improving their neighborhood – whether it be fixing specific curbs, resurfacing certain streets, or installing bike lanes – through participatory budgeting (PB).
Through September 18, 2020, the 35th Ward Office collected infrastructure improvement ideas from residents via an online form, email, and phone. These ideas will be reviewed by the PB Leadership Committee, made up of volunteers and community leaders from every portion and neighborhood of the 35th Ward. The leadership committee will complete their review of projects and created a ballot of projects for residents to vote for their preferred infrastructure investments. Voting will occur in the final months of 2020.
A few Henry parents submitted a proposal for a new playground. We hope this project will be one of the proposed projects on the ballot. We will keep you updated.

New Nationwide Eviction Moratorium Extends to December 2020
Noting that eviction increases the spread of Covid-19, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention this week issued a comprehensive, nationwide eviction moratorium that will last through the end of the year.
Most tenants are covered by this protection, which prohibits all evictions for non-payment of rent. You must present your landlord with a declaration that you have made your best efforts to pay rent. You can now find a sample declaration on the CDC's website.
Please review this FAQ from the National Housing Law Project for more information about the new moratorium at https://www.nhlp.org/campaign/protecting-renter-and-homeowner-rights-during-our-national-health-crisis-2/
