#36 Readers Theatre

Kortney Edelman- Literature 3-6

What is Readers Theatre

A group of students that dramatically perform a script.

Students are given a part to rehearse and then they change their voices to fit the part.

Why Use this Strategy?

Readers theatre is a great way to help students connect with the text and help comprehension.

Students also develop fluency skills while they practice their lines.

Costumes, props, and memorization are not necessary for readers theater to be effective.

How to Use this Strategy?

-Students can write their own scripts based off of units or topics they are studying

-Students can perform a script for parents or other members of the school

-Students are given a part on Monday's to practice throughout the week. Every Friday the students have a readers theater for fun!
