Spotlight On Kindergarten

As new kindergarteners at North Elementary, we have been learning all about being a toy expert! This means we have practiced how to play with our toys and how we can describe the toys we have played with. We have read books about sharing and how sharing makes playing fun! We have written a letter to Dr. McClard explaining what toys we prefer to play with in the classroom. In addition, we have talked with partners about the toys we play with and what toys we prefer! We can't wait to continue to be toy and kindergarten experts!

Counselor's Corner

The month of October is Disability Awareness Month. The theme will be “Everybody Counts.” Students will be taught lessons and participate in activities that help them learn about disabilities. They will also learn the importance of treating everyone with respect, that we all have different abilities, and that “Everybody Counts!”

The month of October is also bully prevention month. Students will be taught lessons on living a healthy lifestyle, making good decisions, and the importance of kindness and not being a bully.

Art Remarks

Hello North Families! It has been a pleasure teaching your young artists this past month - they are extremely talented and enthusiastic about art! We have discussed and explored several mediums such as watercolor, printmaking, and more. This fall, we will be discussing fall colors, the changing of leaves, composition and different values. Looking forward to October!

Artfully yours,

Miss Hopson
