Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy

Opening August 2020

We celebrated the groundbreaking for the new BASA campus on March 28th. This was a very exciting time for Barrow County students, staff, and the community! If you were not able to tune in live, a recording is available for you to view on our system's Facebook page.

Students who designed the "coming soon" sign for our new campus were also acknowledged at the groundbreaking. Jada Chavis, Kennedi White, Karen Sanchez, and Cherisse Destiny Bradley are 11th grade students at Winder-Barrow High School. They are also enrolled in the Graphic Design pathway at Sims Academy. Their design was one of nine proposals judges considered. We were so proud to show off their work!

Construction Update

We are eager to share construction progress with you as it unfolds. Currently, site work continues with erosion control measures, preparing for utilities, and lots of grading. We anticipate concrete foundations for the Academic building starting next week! The new bus loop drive is also coming along in preparation for curb and gutter work to begin. Overall, the project schedule is tracking well, with the new bus loop being operational by the end of this summer. Thank you to Project Manager Kendall Dutton for keeping us informed!
