The Sudie News
September 2 - September 6, 2019
Principal's Prose
Greetings Team,
I hope that you all are having a great Labor Day weekend and are excited about another great week working with our outstanding students! We are truly fortunate to have such wonderfully, moldable and capable students to work with, and awesome teamplayers at Sudie TAG!
As we have made significant progress in learning our students and establishing expectations in and out of the classroom, the image of 2019-2020 has begun to take shape. In just a matter of 10 days, I am certain many of us have already developed unique connections with students and have initiated well thought out plans in order to address their needs. This is EXACTLY what should be happening in the healthy, forward leaning, student centered learning environment that Sudie TAG continues to pride itself on. We are on track and on pace to do great things again this year, and at the root of our success is YOU! Maintain your sense of urgency and hold your focus as the gains our stakeholders, students and supporters expect will follow!
Once again, thank you all for your commitment to making sure our students start the year knowing that their school cares. Also, a special thank you to all who have made our morning, afternoon and transitions successful endeavors. Several of our parents have expressed to me how much they appreciate the warm welcomes, positive interactions and over organization represented in all we do! I always respond, “It's simply the Sudie way, as We Are One!”
Make it a great week everyone!
Go Lions,
MJ

G/T Training for our G/T Students
Please see Ms. Herrera if you have any questions!
Regarding your required 6-hour Gifted & Talented Annual Update*:
Here are some options to meet your 6-hour update requirement.
Option 1 - Remote Option through TAGT (Texas Association for the Gifted & Talented):
https://sites.google.com/dallasisd.org/gtannualupdate/home
You can select any three of seven courses offered to combine for your six hours. Follow the directions given on this site to receive credit in Cornerstone. Complete at your pace.
Option 2 - Look for open Gifted & Talented Foundational Training in Cornerstone:
Module 3A: Sparking Creative Genius in Gifted and Talented Students
Module 3B: Sparking Creative Genius in Gifted and Talented Students
Module 4A: Models of Differentiated Instruction
Module 4B: Models of Differentiated Instruction
Module 5: Engaging Students through Depth and Complexity
These are open to all grades. Most September classes are full, but I saw lots of openings in October. Most classes are held at the Bell Building over the course of two nights.
Option 3 - Complete Module 3 with me at Sudie
Advanced Academics will set up a session called Module 3A/B-Sudie in Cornerstone for you to select. The training will take place here at Sudie on two afternoons. I still have to cover the Module 3 elements, but I can customize it to your needs!! Please let me know if you'd like to go this route, so I can get them to arrange it in Cornerstone.
*In addition to the 30 hours of training required by the State Plan for the Education of the Gifted/Talented to be eligible to teach gifted students, teachers must also earn six hours of training yearly to maintain their eligibility. The annual update should be completed by the December 31st.
If you are new and you need your 30 Foundational Hours, please come see Ms. Herrera.
