Solo and Ensemble/Mid-Winter Concert
Wakeland Band family and friends-
Good evening-
This week we have our 2017 Mid-Winter Concert on Thursday night in the WHS Auditorium. Students, please check the concert attire guidelines to remind yourself what to wear.

Please also join us for the annual Spaghetti Dinner on Thursday, February 16th before and during the Band Concert. Starting at 5:00 pm, your family can come in and enjoy a wonderful meal to benefit the Wakeland Band and Guard. Meals are $10.00 for high school students and adults and $5 for students under 12. You can purchase tickets to the Spaghetti Dinner in advance using the link below or via cash or credit card at the dinner.

There will also be a silent auction and bake sale. If any band families would like to donate items for the silent auction, please contact Gretchen Hitchcock, Guard Liaison, at booster-guard@wakelandband.com or 214-425-5143. Please forward to anyone that may be interested and feel free to post on social media. We really appreciate your support of the program.
Solo and Ensemble
Please also make sure you have your ORIGINAL PURCHASED COPY of your solo/ensemble for the contest coming up. The performance schedule is going to be posted in the band hall on Monday morning. Also please remember that this week is your second rehearsal with your piano accompanist.
***STUDENTS need to purchase/own an ORIGINAL copy of the solo and piano part to turn in for proof of ownership.****

2016-2017 Band Banquet: SAVE THE DATE
The Wakeland HS Band Banquet will take place on Friday, May 26, 2017. It’s important to note the date now, as this is the Friday of Memorial Day Weekend. At this point, the day is set as a Bad Weather Day in FISD. More details will be forthcoming from the Social-Hospitality Chairs, but we wanted to make sure everyone holds this date in your family’s calendar. This is a special event for the Band & Guard students & the Banquet will be held at the Marriott at the Shops at Legacy (Plano).
NTCA Contest Hosting:
The Wakeland WinterGuard is hosting a NTCA WinterGuard Competition at Wakeland on Saturday, February 25, 2017. We are still in need of help from both parents and students to make this event successful. This event will generate revenue for our entire Wakeland Band/Guard Program. Students volunteering will receive service hour credits for helping!
Some of the areas still in need are:
First Aid - Must be an Adult (non High School Student)
Needs to be certified and able to assist with minor injuries that might occur.
All supplies will be provided
Guard Check In
Adults to check in units as they arrive, write down performer and floor crew count
Provide performers and floor crew wristbands for admittance
Will have NTCA representative to assist with any check in issues
Hospitality Room
Help to make sure food and beverage is stocked and ready for Directors and Judges. You will be assisting the Wakeland Social/Hospitality chair
School Coordination
This is a variety of tasks consisting of helping units get from station to station during the competition; monitoring body and equipment warm up; monitoring doors for spectators; monitoring and assisting in member storage areas and prop and equipment inspection.
Parking Lot - Adults and Students (over 16)
Responsible for greeting bus drivers/Directors upon arrival at Wakeland and guiding buses and directing traffic. Safety Vests will be provided
Ticket Table
In charge of collecting money from spectators and providing wristbands for entrance
Volunteer Check In
Assist volunteers with sign in/out, provide name tag and direct to area of responsibility. Will have full communication with Event Committee.
Photography
Take pictures of the Wakeland Guard Blue and Orange when they perform
If you assist with the floor crew for the Wakeland Guard you will be released from your area to help when Wakeland goes to perform.
