PAW PRINTS
Rand Park Dog Training Club, Inc Fall 2019 Newsletter
Letter From Your Editor
My name is Barb Stelk and I am the new editor of Paw Prints. I joined the club last year and wanted to help out in some fashion. When I saw that the club was in need of an editor, I figured that was something I could do.
A little bit about me...I have three dogs, (need to stay off Pet Finder), I have two fish (they are not named and looking to get a clownfish to add to the tank), I am a teacher (not language arts, therefore do not judge my grammar or spelling), I coach basketball, volleyball and track at my school, (crazy busy with no personal life except going to obedience with Bailey on Tuesdays...so thanks for accepting me :), my mom and I live together, ( we still talk) and lastly I like to do my own gardening and home remolding.
Newsletters are going to be sent out for Fall, Winter & Spring.
Deadlines to get all your articles, brags and anything you want into the Newsletters...must be appropriate :) will be as follows:
WINTER: Date due: December 30, 2019
SPRING: Date due: March 31, 2020
FALL: Date due: September 15, 2020
When you email me please put in the subject box Paw Prints. This is due to currently having over 26,000 unopened messages in my inbox. Could you imagine if that were paper?
Check out my photo. It may help put a name to my face.
Since the next newsletter will come out after all the holidays, wishing you a Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year!
Blessings and hope you enjoy my first Newsletter.

Ungar's Newest Member of the Family
The Ungar's are proud to announce we have a new member to the family. On March 9th, we picked up Chiiba and brought him into our hearts and home. We adopted him through Adopt-A-Pet from a family in Hartford, Wisconsin. He was born on March 5, 2013 in Goldendale, WA. We are so thankful for such a sweet loving Sammy.

Rand Park's Fall VST Tracking Trial
On the weekend of October 5 & 6, Rand Park held their VST tracking trial at Lincolnshire, IL. There were 8 dogs participating. We were fortunate enough to have 2 wonderful judges, Connie Austin & Ule James, who kept all of the workers in good spirits with their sense of humor. Tracks were plotted on Saturday and the rain gods held off until we finished the last one!
Sunday's weather was ideal - crisp, cool, still a bit wet underfoot, & slightly breezy. (At least the dogs loved it!) In spite of our best efforts, hopes & prayers, there was only one pass. It was on track #8. Roni Szeliga's flat-coated retriever, Diva, (who is co-owned by Terri Everwine), did a marvelous job to earn her VST and Champion Tracker title. Diva was skillfully handled by Penny Kurz. Roni was a past member of Rand Park who lives in Wisconsin. She has been in the local tracking communities for many years and always offers her help for our tracking trials. Congratulations Roni & Diva!!
This could not have happened without our wonderful crew of volunteers. It takes many hands to make a trial run smoothly. May I introduce one of the best crews I've ever worked with: Tracklayers: Donna Kircher, Mike Adelman, Ike Lichter, Benita Theleen (double duty - 2 tracks bless her!), Bill Urquhart, Dave Wagner, & Marie Goulden. Extra thanks to Ike & Mike for various equipmentduties in addition to laying tracks. A tracking trial is nothing without good food! Shout out to Barb Krynski for Sunday breakfast (hey guys, she can really make some good stuff!) and Teena Horne for the awesome lunch for us hungry workers. And anyone else who just brought goodies to share. Of course we cannot forget to thank Lori Buckley for driving the judges on Sunday. Last but not least, our trial secretary, Nancy Foster who did all the AKC paperwork, etc., etc., etc. Thank you one & all!
For any Rand Park attendees who may be interested in what tracking is all about, feel free to contact Lois Leidahl-Marsh or myself and come on out on a Sunday morning to watch how we train. You're always welcome.

A little humor goes a long way
* I'VE DECIDED I'M NOT OLD, I'M 45 -- PLUS SHIPPING AND HANDLING.
* WHY DO I HAVE TO PRESS "1" FOR ENGLISH? DID AMERICA MOVE?
* BEHIND EVERY ANGRY WOMAN STANDS A MAN WHO HAS ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA WHAT HE DID WRONG.
* VEGETARIAN: ANCIENT TRIBAL NAME FOR THE VILLAGE IDIOT WHO CAN'T HUNT, FISH, OR LIGHT FIRES!
* I LOOK AT PEOPLE AND SOMETIMES THINK "REALLY? -- THAT'S THE SPERM THAT WON?"
* IN MY DEFENSE I WAS LEFT UNSUPERVISED.
* MY DECISION-MAKING SKILLS CLOSELY RESEMBLE THOSE OF A SQUIRREL WHEN CROSSING THE ROAD.
* SOME THINGS ARE JUST BETTER LEFT UNSAID -- AND I USUALLY REALIZE IT RIGHT AFTER I SAY THEM.
* CAMPING: WHERE YOU SPEND A SMALL FORTUNE TO LIVE LIKE A HOMELESS PERSON.
* I THOUGHT GETTING OLD WOULD TAKE LONGER.
