COVID 19 - UPDATE/LATEST ADVICE
Students being sent home after developing possible Covid-19 symptoms
Following advice from Education Services, any of our students who need to be sent home due to having possible Covid symptoms will be given a leaflet explaining the situation and providing initial advice.
Latest guidance
If anyone becomes unwell with any flu like symptoms (headache, muscle aches, blocked nose, fever, sore throat, cough, sneezing, shortness of breath or loss of taste or smell) they must stay at home. Anyone developing symptoms at the College will be sent home immediately and advised to contact the Coronavirus helpline to arrange testing.
Symptomatic individuals should isolate on their own until they have received a negative test result. Young children will require a parent or carer to isolate with them. Assuming family members have no contact with the isolating child and parent/carer, they can carry on their activities as normal.

Equality & Diversity Breakfast Meeting
We have arranged a breakfast meeting for Thursday 15th October at 8:30am in LOC Hall for students who have shown an interest in being part of the College Equality & Diversity Group. This meeting will be held before the PDP session that morning when the film ‘The Hate U Give’ will be shown in The Performing Arts Centre theatre (information below) to mark October being Black History Month. If your son/daughter/ward is interested in joining the group and doesn't yet have their name down, please ask them to contact lindseyh@gcfe.net
Black History Month film showing 'The Hate U Give'
Film information: Starr Carter is constantly switching between two worlds: the poor, mostly black, neighbourhood where she lives and the rich, mostly white, prep school she attends. The uneasy balance between these worlds is shattered when Starr witnesses the fatal shooting of her childhood best friend Khalil at the hands of a police officer. Now, facing pressures from all sides of the community, Starr must find her voice and stand up for what’s right. THE HATE U GIVE is based on the critically acclaimed New York Times bestseller by Angie Thomas and stars Amandla Stenberg as Starr, with Russell Hornsby, Regina Hall, Common, Anthony Mackie, Issa Rae, KJ Apa, and Algee Smith.

Parent/Carer focus Groups for the Special Education Needs and Disability (SEND) Review
These focus groups will support the Independent Review of the Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) provision in The Bailiwick. The review will be used to identify good practice and also inform the evolution of provision; identifying opportunities that will support the on-going development of an educationally inclusive culture across the Bailiwick.
The review will provide an evaluation of the Bailiwick’s effectiveness in:
· Identifying children and young people with SEND;
· Meeting the needs of children and young people with SEND;
· Securing good outcomes for children and young people who have SEND.
The review is being conducted by the National Association for Special Educational Needs (nasen) (https://nasen.org.uk/). Nasen are a high quality provider of SEND support and development with vast experience at both a national and jurisdictional level.
Kamal Bodhanker, Nasen Reviewer, will be hosting focus groups on Monday 19th and Tuesday 20th October from 16:00-18:00. If you would like to be considered as a participant in the parent/carer focus groups, please contact Eloise Willis (Eloise.Willis@gov.gg) to register your interest. Due to the current travel restrictions, the reviewers are currently unable to travel to The Bailiwick. Therefore, these Focus groups will take place via the video conferencing platform Zoom. Focus group participants will be randomly selected, and practice calls can be made available to any parents/carers unfamiliar with Zoom.

Contacting You
The College’s preferred method of contact with parents and carers is via email. Please add the email address of your child/ward's course Customer Liaison Officer to your list of ‘safe senders’ or to your contacts list/address book to ensure communications from them arrive directly into your inbox, rather than going into ‘junk’ or ‘spam’.
As you will be contacted directly by the relevant CLO regarding events specific to your child/ward’s course/programme area, it is important that they have an up-to-date email address for you. Their details are listed below.
