Weekly Update 5.24.2020
Joan MacQueen Middle School
Principal Message
Memorial Day is upon us. This weekend is a time to recognize all those who have sacrificed and continue to sacrifice for our country. With the COVID-19 pandemic, we also want to recognize our health care workers and essential employees. We also salute you for your commitment to our country.
In this edition of the Weekly Update, there is new information on the drive-through ceremony for our promoting 8th graders. There is new yearbook information and an "End of the Year Calendar" to help you plan. There are also details for picking up PE gear and turning in books and technology.
Lastly, we want every family to complete a district survey to assist us in creating a safe and supportive environment for the next school year. If you have not filled out the Course Selection form, please complete that ASAP as it is vital in our creation of a schedule for the upcoming school year.
Thank you, and enjoy Memorial Day tomorrow.

Returning Items to the School and Picking up PE Gear
Students are in possession of Chromebooks, textbooks, books, and musical instruments that need to be turned back into school. Many students want to pick up a favorite pair of gym shoes from the locker room. Based on guidelines from the County Health and the SDCOE we have a plan to accomplish those tasks for all students in one trip. Please also keep in mind AUSD/JMMS will be moving to a one to one school with Chromebooks so only 8th-grade and non-returning students will need to return their school-issued technology.

PARENT SURVEY
We are actively planning for the 2020-21 school year. To plan for the future, we want to capture our parents' thinking and identify their preferences and interest in possible models of teaching and learning for the upcoming 2020-21 school year. The information you provide will let us know our community's preferences and help us plan for various scenarios. Your responses are anonymous. The survey will be open through Friday, May 29, 2020. Click here to access the parent survey link.
Selecting Courses for the 2020/21 School Year

If you didn't receive your Course Request Form this past Friday in an email from the school, please take a moment to click on the form below and complete it.

Online Learning Tip Week Four: Schedule time for other activities
By achieving a balanced schedule, your mind will be more receptive during time devoted to studying. If you schedule several long days in a row of studying, you will get discouraged and be tempted to give up. It’s recommended that you schedule time for nonacademic activities, such as exercise, hobbies, and socializing with other students.
