2015-16 Oakland Unified Big Question of the Year
2015-16 Big Question
How are we aligning strategies for all targeted groups to ensure closing achievement gaps?
After reviewing our SBAC data together last week, this question is particularly pertinent to us at Glenview.
At our PD on Weds, the ILT will share our year long PD calendar. We will be going deep into 6 week content based cycles, but the overarching "Big Question" will guide our work in the content cycles across the year.
Professional Development 9/30
1) Review the PD calendar and the "Big Question" for the year
2)Set our TGDS goals aligned to the Oakland Teacher Framework (remember the rubric for teaching we looked at two weeks ago
3) Use the observation and evaluation online portal- Teachboost
The GlST is All About Differentiation and Intervention
Small Group Differentiation
1:1 Intervention
Allowing Teacher to Focus on Small Group support
Differentiation Every Day with Words their Way
Mr. Witte tried 4 WTW groups this week so that each group of students had the exact words to support their unique needs. Mr. Miller has also been putting WTW to work with his class by committing time to slowly teaching the WTW procedures to the whole class. Be sure to ask them how it went!
MOVING HEARTS
International Walk and Roll to School Day
The International Walk & Roll Day is set for Wednesday, October 7th. This is a great opportunity for teachers and students to celebrate our health, the environment, and our school spirit. Walk, bike, carpool, or use public transit to school. Teachers should have received Walk & Roll posters in their mailboxes. In an effort to promote this event to the student body, we ask that you please hang the Walk & Roll posters in your classrooms. If you have questions or didn't receive a poster, please email Coach C. at deborah.cuny@ousd.org for further information.

School Photos Make Up Day- 10/6
All staff who have not had their photo taken, please do so on 10/6 in the garden with Mr. Londgren.
Why do some people get "extra preps"?
The other open prep. slots will be to support teachers who have IEPS, SSTs, 504s and other meetings which needs to occur during the instructional day as well as to make up the lost preps that occur on Mondays or when prep. teachers are absent.
We are very fortunate to have two preps. and a PLC scheduled into our instructional day. Most schools have one prep during the instructional day! If you have a unique need for a prep for some reason (coaching session, wanting to observe a peer, etc) , please talk to Ms. Toller and Ms. Morgan.
