Recognize Music teachers adn ahonors stuents.

We have been recognized as one of 527 school districts that are among the Best Communities in the nation for music education. The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.

Parking Lot Challenge

We fully recognize traffic at the start and end of the day is congested, especially during inclement weather days. Drivers may not stand or park a vehicle in front of a public or private driveway, within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, or within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection. Also, parents are reminded to follow and remain in our established traffic cue when dropping off and picking-up. Please extend the gift of courtesy by planning the most efficient loading and unloading of your vehicle. Conversely, please share the gift of patience when a family has a need for extra time to load or unload.

The lower lot (closest to Oxford Valley Road), is for buses only. Parents should not park or drive into this lot during drop-off (8:40-9:20) and dismissal times (3:10-4:00).

Finally, we ask parents to have children ride the bus to and from school as much as possible. This simple change can have a tremendous, positive impact on the volume of traffic at the school.

A Growth Mindset Quick Read...

“The Magic of Mistakes" - We can learn important lessons from mistakes. Here are some discussion questions you can use with your child at home.

1. When I make a mistake I feel _____because _____. How does it feel when you make a mistake?

2. What do you do about those feelings so that you don't get discouraged?

3. How can we support one another when facing challenges that result in us needing to 'redo' something many times?

Orientation for Incoming Kindergarten Students

Pearl Buck will be hosting a Kindergarten Orientation on Tuesday, May 16th, 2017, for kindergarten students who will be attending Pearl Buck in the fall of 2017. Students must be registered with the school District in order to attend this event.

If your child is registered to attend kindergarten at Pearl Buck in the fall of 2017, please follow this link to select your visitation time.

Attendance at this orientation is NOT required. This event is provided as an opportunity to introduce your child to the school and some of its teachers and staff. During the 1-hour visit, parents will receive information about Pearl S. Buck Elementary, hear an overview of kindergarten, and have an opportunity to ask questions of the staff. Incoming kindergartners will have time to play while teachers observe and meet with each child. Because of this personalized attention, we ask parents/guardians to arrive on time and depart at the end of their scheduled session. This will help us to remain on time for each successive group. Please call the school at 215-809-6300 with any questions about the orientation.

Be Food-Allergy Aware!

Due to varied allergy and dietary needs, please contact your child's teacher before sending in food for students other than your child (e.g. for birthday celebrations, class parties). Do not send in any items until the teacher has responded and confirmed the appropriateness of your request. Also, students should not share food at any time during school - even with a close friend. A seemingly harmless food item may unexpectedly contain allergens, or interact with other medical conditions. Depending on the health needs in the classroom, teachers may choose to avoid food-oriented experiences altogether.

Please see our guidelines for more information.

Very Important Information

Oscar the Grouch used to be orange. Jim Henson decided to make him green before the second season of Sesame Street. How did Oscar explain the color change? He said he went on vacation to the very damp Swamp Mushy Muddy and turned green overnight.

The 3 Musketeers bar was originally split into three pieces with three different flavors: vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. When the other flavors became harder to come by during World War II, Mars decided to go all chocolate.
