Thoughts for the Road

Week 4

Derek Redmond - Never Give Up

Keep Failing?

We have all been doing some new things in the last few weeks. Remember even good change is hard! Thanks for the efforts, keep it up, it will matter for our students.

Think about this:

A culture of innovation requires permission to fail. Think about a child learning how to walk. When they fall, do we tell them never try that again, or do we encourage the effort and invite them to fail again in order to learn? As we learn new things we must be willing to struggle a little, and know that the difficulties are teaching us.

“Failure isn’t fatal, but failure to change might be” – John Wooden

“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” - Thomas A. Edison

“Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of enthusiasm.” - Winston Churchill
