Note from Mrs. Craft
Dear Parents,
We have had a very busy week. Today, we had three football players from LHS come to honor Mrs. Anderson, a first grade teacher, with Teacher of the Week. Mrs. Anderson has a heart for ALL students, and she has a gift of meeting students where they are and growing them. We are so happy for Mrs. Anderson. She will be recognized at Friday's game so be sure to cheer her on.
Last Friday, we had the opportunity to recognize our Heart of a Teacher and Heart of Support. Please join me in congratulating, Stephanie Hertweck, a Kindergarten teacher. Mrs. Hertweck is an excellent model for the the LISD pillar of collaboration. She is openly seeking coaching opportunities to better herself as a teacher. She seeks feedback on implementation, and she is reflecting on her practices to ensure that she is growing all of her students academically. She is always willing to lend a helping hand to her team. I appreciate the strong relationships that she has built with her students and parents. For Heart of Support, we recognized Alice Bassler. Mrs. Bassler is always willing to go above and beyond for our students to ensure that they are set up for success. She understands the importance of building strong relationships with our students and staff. I appreciate how she observes and reflects on students' nuisances then meets them where they are to help them reach their goals. Her calm demeanor and reassuring voice gives her students the confidence to take risks in a safe environment.
We hope that you will be able to join us tonight for Meeting Mrs. Acosta and Fall Family Fun Night.
As always, please feel free to reach out at anytime with questions or concerns.
All My Best,
Wendy Craft

NEW! How to check your child's progress throughout the grading period.
How is my child doing?
As you know, Lovejoy ISD utilizes standards based grading for students in Kindergarten through 4th grade. A Parent FAQ has been created to provide you with information regarding our district’s standards based grading practices.
Beginning in the 2nd quarter, you will be able to use PowerSchool to view your child’s performance indicators for each standard assessed during the grading period. Please know that the performance indicators will not be finalized until the end of the quarter. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to show mastery on standards throughout the grading period. The final performance indicator will appear on your child’s report card.
To log into the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please use the link below. This link will allow you to sign in, create an account, or recover your username and password.
Once you log into the parent portal, click the “Standards Based Grades” tab to monitor your child’s progress on standards taught throughout the grading period.
If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please contact his or her teacher.

Visiting Hart Elementary
In a continued effort to support our safety and security posture at the front entrance doors at each campus, all visitors are required to show ID prior to entering our facilities. The front office staff member will continue to ask each visitor what their intended business is at the campus, and visitors will present their ID to the camera intercom system prior to entry. Once the visitor ID is verified, the front office staff member will then allow entry. Note: Visitors should keep their ID in hand, as they will have to use it to sign into Raptor upon entry.
Attendance Update
Attendance continues to be a top priority for Lovejoy ISD. It should come as no surprise that attendance has a direct relationship with student learning. Additionally, public school funding is provided by the State of Texas based on each district's average daily attendance (ADA).
Lovejoy has developed an Attendance Task Force consisting of staff, parents, and students to formulate ideas about how to positively impact ADA in our district. One suggestion is to update the community via weekly principal communication on the number of absences each campus has accrued YTD along with the budgetary impact of those absences. This information can be found below:
