Bear Tracks
March 15, 2019
Note from the Principal:
Dear Staff,
What an awesome day it was in the warm sun! Let Spring energize you and think about ways you can get outside - whether it is with your class, a small group, or just on your planning!
How can you do it in a way that is relevant and creative that can enhance what you are doing in class?
There is nothing like Spring when the weather breaks. Symbolic of making it through winter and being re-energized. Let's run with it!
Have a great day and enjoy St. Patrick's Day Weekend!
Sincerely,
Chris

Key Information:
- Outdoor Learning Area - the benches have been moved so that the section beyond the pond with the white board is good to go (as the weather gets warmer - feel free to get out there!). We will also be installing a greenhouse and flagstone walkway through the meadow in the next few weeks (big shout outs to Cedar Creek Landscaping and Chickadee Creek Farm)! The project has brought together so many great community members and has led the way for projects throughout the entire district. Way to go everyone who has supported and participated. Also, thanks to Besty's and Erin's classes for cleaning up leaves today.
- Road to the Reading Final Four - Let's keep the momentum going. Today's voting was amazing in that most of the books were withing 5-10 percentage points from each other. It was so close. You are helping to get kids excited about reading and engaging in texts while having fun! For the round of 8 and the final four, we are looking to have voting stations set up in the lobby. Stay tuned for more details. Laptops will be set up and classes will come through and vote quickly. The hope is that it will make is seem 'special' and garner even more excitement. Again, thank you all for helping to make this special!
- Kids Heart Challenge - Formerly 'Jump Rope for Heart' will take place in the PE periods. It will be introduced Monday 3/11. Reach out if you have any questions.
- For Your Reading Pleasure - Blueprint of New Jersey Student Learning Assessments (NJSLA) [formerly PARCC] CLICK HERE to read. Dates this year: Science [5th grade only] May 8 & 9. ELA - May 15, 16 & 17, Math - May 20 & 21. (May 15 is a correction from what was stated at this week's fac meeting)
