Trimester 1 Report Cards

It's hard to believe that we have already completed more than one third of the school year.

Trimester 1 Report Cards will be sent home to parent/guardian emails on Thursday, December 13th. The Report Cards will be sent as password protected PDF attachments, along with instructions for passwords and opening. Please contact the OMS Office if you are having trouble opening the attachment, or if you would like to request a paper copy be sent in the regular mail.

Here is some other information about trimester grading reports and honor rolls from the Student and Parent Handbook (page 16):

All students will receive mid-term progress reports. These reports will be sent home electronically and posted on the Parent Portal, though families are able to request these reports be sent home in the mail. Remember, this is only halfway through the trimester. You still have time to improve your grade, study harder and seek extra help from your teacher.

Report cards will be issued about a week after marks close for each trimester. Report cards will be sent home electronically and posted to the Parent Portal. Any parent/guardian may request a paper copy of the report card from their child’s guidance counselor.

In order to make the Honor Roll at O’Donnell Middle School, you must have A’s and B’s in all subjects and exhibit good conduct. Students with straight A’s will receive High Honors. If you receive the comment, “poor conduct” you automatically lose your right to be on the Honor Roll. The Knights of Honor Roll recognizes students who have been nominated by their teachers for exhibiting the values of R.E.S.P.E.C.T. in the O’Donnell Middle School mission statement.

Catch that Spirit!

This year's OMS Spirit Day was held on Wednesday, November 21st. Mr. Block and the Student Council did a great job facilitating all of the events for the day. Students and staff dressed in orange and black, participated in fun competitions like the minute-to-win-it challenge and the homeroom door decorating contest, and attended the pep rally in the gymnasium with the Stoughton Marching Black Knights and the 8th Grade STOYAC Cheerleaders! Take a look at a few photos from the day.

NJHS sends a message from Stoughton to Pittsburgh with LOVE...and other good deeds

Students from the National Junior Honor Society created signs of support, collected donations at lunch, and sent a picture of themselves with the signs and the donation to the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Here are some other recent NJHS service activities:

  • They worked with volunteers to prep waterproof mats out of donated plastic bags for homeless people in North Attleboro (ongoing activity if anyone wants to donate plastic grocery bags). Take a look at the photos below.
  • They are visiting Wilkins Elementary School next week to work with third graders (yearlong activity- 3-4 visits where they have the same buddy- on reading comprehension, MCAS strategies, science lessons, and art activities).
  • Over 30 students worked the children's room at the Holiday Fair; they also stayed Friday night and Saturday night to set-up and clean-up.
  • They helped Jeff Wolfe with packaging supplies for the troops for Family Volunteer Day. Click on the link below for the news article.

Project 351

Each year, an O'Donnell Middle School 8th grader is silently nominated by his/her teachers to become the Project 351 Ambassador. Project 351 started in 2011 and is named for the 351 cities and towns in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Each community selects one ambassador to represent that community for Project 351.

"At the heart of Project 351 is the dedication and compassion of our 8th grade Ambassadors. Youth are selected by local educators for their exemplary ethic of service and values of kindness, compassion, humility, and generosity of spirit. Project 351 encourages the selection of quiet leaders and unsung heroes."

Congratulations to all of this year's nominees (from left to right in photo): Kyla Sheedy-Goff; Luisa Silva; Mya Ricardo; Abigail Bettencourt; Jaelyn Williams. All of the nominees have been recognized here at OMS and will be awarded a certificate by the Stoughton School Committee in February.

Best of luck to Jaelyn Williams who will represent OMS and Stoughton as our 2018 Project 351 Ambassador.
