CURRICULUM NEWS for May 7th - May 11th

- Reviewing comprehension strategies (predictions, inferences, connections, story retelling)
- Reflecting as a reader and writer
WRITING:
- Writing a 6 star sentence: capital at the beginning, makes sense, spaces, punctuation, detail, spelling
- Including story elements to our writing (characters, setting, beginning, middle, end, & feelings)
MATH:
- End of year review (read/ write/ represent numbers 0 - 20, addition, subtraction, graphing, measurement)
SCIENCE:
- Protecting our Earth/ Conservation
SOCIAL STUDIES:
- Landforms & Bodies of Water

Monday, May 14th - No school/ *Optional Parent Teacher Conferences
Tuesday, May 15th - Thursday, May 17th - STAAR Test for upper grades.

Reading Homework
Have your child:
1. Listen to the story "A Bad Case of Stripes".
2. Retell the story (characters, setting, beginning, middle, end).
3. Do you have a connection to the story? Write your connection.
ex: This story reminds me of ______ .
*Make sure your sentence has a capital at the beginning, spaces, and punctuation.
Math Homework
*Review*
Monday - Practice reading numbers 0 - 20. Click on the link below and identify the numbers.
Tuesday - Practice writing numbers 0 - 20 & comparing them. Click on the link below and write. After you have written numbers 0 - 20 compare different numbers using the correct vocabulary (more, less, greater, fewer, equal).
Wednesday - Practice representing numbers 0 - 20. Listen to the song below. Pick any two numbers from 0 - 20. Represent the two numbers in as many ways as you can.
Thursday - Practice composing and decomposing numbers. Listen to the number bonds song below. Choose any three numbers between 2 and 10. Draw number bonds and find ways to make the numbers.
ex: 4 and 2 make 6 (4+2=6) and so on
Friday - No homework. Have a great weekend!
