Students who do not have a water bottle are given a small paper cup for hydration. An Update from The Giving Tree

The Giving Tree is excited for a new school year! More than 600 students were invited to our Back-to-School event in early August! These students received school supplies, backpacks, socks and underwear. Students were also given oral health care bags, had the opportunity to sign up for in-district dental care, and signed up for free or reduced meal benefits through our School Nutrition department. If you think you may qualify for support from The Giving Tree, please reach out to Kourtney Feldhausen at or call 920-662-7989.

This month we are collecting jars of peanut butter. Please feel free to send donations with your students to put in the collections bins/carts near the main office of school. Items can also be dropped off during school hours. The Giving Tree appreciates the community support in helping ensure food is not a barrier to a student’s education.

Community Resource Updates

Construction Corner

It was an action packed summer at Meadowbrook. New interior classroom doors were installed, flooring in our hallways and classrooms updated as well as new windows. Student bathrooms also received a facelift, and our staff bathrooms modified to meet current ADA requirements. The new elevator is also much larger. The ductwork for our air conditioning was also completed; and the chiller is expected to arrive this Fall. Please click here to learn more about the facility updates across the District. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Assistant Superintendent Mike Juech at 920-662-8100.

Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting

This year the Howard-Suamico Board of Education will hold its public Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting on September 26, 6:00 p.m. in the Student Union, Bay Port High School, 2710 Lineville Road, Suamico. In addition, the Superintendent will present a State of the District address.

We have been asked on occasion about the purpose of these meetings which are also referred to as Meetings of the Electors. State Law requires school districts across Wisconsin to hold a Budget Hearing and Annual Meeting each year. There are legal requirements surrounding these events, but school officials have long recognized this event as an opportunity for the community and the school district to connect, to communicate, and to reach greater understanding. School administrators and board members provide focus on achievements, needs and the future of the district. Community members are presented with information about the operations of the school district, are able to ask questions, and will then vote on various motions.

On behalf of the Howard-Suamico School District, the Board of Education invites attendance and participation from district residents. Please consider joining us on Monday, September 26. Copies of the budget book will be available on the District website and in the School District Office, 2706 Lineville Road, Green Bay, beginning September 16, 2022, and will be available at the meeting on September 26.

For more information about the Howard-Suamico School District governance system, please visit, or reach out to Meadowbrook School Board Representative Vanessa Moran.
